I have not tested the Logitech before. You could try the Bose demo out at any store (Myer/DJ/JBHifi). They've got a demo setup where you can press a button to test the sound quality. I liked it when I tested it and have been eyeing it ever since ;)
Logitech speakers aren't real home theatre speakers. The sounds aren't as clear (I'm talking about both the Z5500 and its younger Z2300). Sure they produce very loud sound and bass, but the clarity just isn't there. No serious movie watchers would ever use Logitech for home theatre. For games are ok though.
Out of stock.
You need to go in store. Online is out but limited stock at individual stores. Hornsby had 2 but left 1 after I got mine at 7am ;)
With such limited stock, it can hardly be classified as a deal.
Brisbane City had 10 when they opened yesterday. By 12pm there were 2 left. My friend bought one. They're probably all gone now!
these low stock special just make me upset for not able to get it in time :(
out of stock..
Wonder if Myer will price match…
Just tried at Myer Roselands, have stock but didn't want to price match. Instead offered it at the sale price of $699.
There were 2 in stock at Kotara however the sales person did not let me take it for the $495 saying that it was for an older model?!?! Instead was offered the same (apparently newer unit) for 799 - 15% … I said GTFO naturally
I got this too from a DJs Miranda. They had the stock and I showed him the price on their own website on their display Macs. He claims that this was a run out model and the ones they have are current series 3 model. I them took them to the Bose AU website to show him that this is the current model. It says it on the website and it clearly shows it on their display and on the box. Still didn't wanna budge. I went to JB Hifi and they price matched the last one for me.
I was never going to pay retail for this set. I replaced a logitech z5500 for it and I am very happy with the quality. No more wires everywhere and it's a pretty slick unit.
What do u mean no more wires? These speakers still need wires don't they?
Correction. Less wires. I was happy to lose the rear and centre speakers for the projected sound these produce.
Got it at David Jones rundle mall Adelaide.. Price was $695 but I showed them the price on the website and they obliged. There were at least 5 on a trolley by the counter
Went to chadstone david jones, sold out and the salesperson the onlibe 495 price was a pricing error!
Update: jb managed to price match dj's. The salesrep didnt bother to check if valid. Simply said djs had it for 495 and would you be able to price match, and it was a sure thing.
I have been trying to match this today, can you please upload a scanned receipt or send it to me please

Here's mine for your perusal. Can anyone point me into the best place to get the table stands for them? JB was not going to give them to me for less than $50 each. I will not pay $100 for a pair of speaker stands.
I'd love to get one of those table stands as well. I was asked to search Ebay but yet to. Anyone with quick links?
can you please re upload the receipt with date on it. Thanks
There's an eBay seller (wh33l) selling these for $32.90 each with free postage from Sydney.
If you use paypal and code 'CAUXMAS13', you can get an extra 10% off the item.
Here you go:

Good luck with it. I had some Westfield gift cards lying around so I managed to only be $415 out of pocket. Of you have an Amex eligible card, another $50 off.
can i ask which jb did you go to?
I price matched at JB hifi miranda today. Unfortunately, I got the last one.
Bought 1 from Adelaide CBD store also at about 6pm. There were 2 left and 2 on hold when I was there.
Congrats to all who got it! At this price, nothing could beat it I reckon (just IMO). Glad to have OzBargainers benefiting from it! Enjoy!
wow…never thought I would ever see Bose speakers on ozbargain front page. lol
lol this is ozbargain not whirlpool…
I'm waiting for someone to recommend… an AVR + bookshelves + sub (later on) whirlpool styles…
Like the OP, aside from the glorified Bose demo stands at the shops, something keeps pulling me towards these speakers all the time. I think it's the simple interface it has, minimalistic design and the sound that comes out of it as a 2.1 unit. It definitely puts away soundbars at the $500-$700 price range.
I even bought it at the thought of returning if it didn't sound as good at home. I threw Saving Private Ryan at it with the sub at 60% (sweet spot) and thought… She's a keeper.
I agree! The sound just sounds like a 5.1 even at the demo stores which are are not in a closed area. I could still hear the clarity & bass. I fell in love with it until I saw the $799 price tag which put me off a while. Lucky for me, my wife saw this somewhere on the net and told me it was $495. I immediately started searching but unfortunately it was sold out on Boxing Day online. So I decided to head down to the local store at 7am (surprised to see only an empty store) then share my purchase on OzBargain.
I can finally place my Aldi soundbar for my new Kogan 27" monitor arriving soon ;)revivor I like your enthusiasm but please don't compare this to 5.1 yet alone a 3.1 setup. 2.1 setup are not technically surround sound alone. No center speaker (considered most important) and no rears for true surround sound. Not a fan of bose but their marketing is great and at this price lures customers like yourself and many others
Properly done surround is leaps and bounds ahead of cheapo 2.1 sets like this, and there is a reason people reccomend bookshelf speakers because they offer the best sound you can get for the money. Hell even in the world of overpriced powered speakers you can do better than bose shit.
Surprised this is considered a deal.
Even at that price, still looks like some over-priced BOSE nonsense.
The deal is about getting the item for the best price possible.
Some people might argue that the premium price of an iphone is worth it because of the design and build quality.
Likewise, some people would consider the design and low profile form factor of Bose speakers worth the extra premium.
I think the small Bose cubes could definitely do with better mids, but given the size, they sound excellent. Emphasis on "given the size"
You can get better sound with large floor-standing speakers that cost less but they'll take up lots of room and could look dated in a modern living room.
Since everyone is different, I bet there are things that you do that other people would consider a waste too.
Exactly. Overpriced crap, now discounted.

EquipmentCan you recommend a speaker setup that has the same small drivers and sounds better than the bose?
They did a product recall last year.
http://worldwide.bose.com/axa/en_au/web/product_recall/page.…
Quoted from Bose website: "If you purchased a Bose® CineMate® GS Series II or CineMate Series II system before 12 September 2012 and are using it in a country where the wall outlet voltage is 220 or higher, your system is included in this action."
Price up, now $653.65
Expired now
All the stores are aware that this is a pricing error that was priced for the previous model. So you're only going to get it at $653.65 and no price-matching at $495
Good price. What's the warranty on this and are speakers replaceable? Does the amp provide scene mode?
Oops someone's gonna get fired lol
I was lucky enough to get one from a nice manager at the Prahran JB HiFi store for the $495… but he wanted me to buy some extra cables too. He marked the receipt "DO NOT PRICE MATCH".
How do these compare to the logitech Z-5500?
