It would be cheaper to buy the Officeworks pre-paid locked phone and get it unlocked.
Anyone know how to get this phone unlocked?Bagman can unlock a Y300 for $5.49: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/91771?page=3 . So can get an unlocked Y300 either at Officeworks $78 + $5.49 ($83.49) or this $79 + $13.80 ($92.80). Don't need to wait for the OW deal to arrive either.
You could buy an unlock code from Bagman for $5.49, but for me personally paying an extra ~$9 for convenience is a small price.
On the Officeworks website all the stores near me are showing up as having limited stock advising me to call first to confirm availability. I really don't feel like calling up stores and being put on hold especially during Christmas time when they are super busy.
I also don't want to have to drive around just for this one thing. Fuel is not free.
Most importantly, the hour or so of my free time that would be taken up by trying to get one from Officeworks is worth more to me than $9.
Then after all that I still have go through the effort of contacting Bagman and unlocking the phone. No thanks.

Yes I can confirm Bagman can unlock for $5.49. I just bought one from OW for $78 and got it unlocked. Works flawlessly.
The one at Officeworks is locked to Telstra.
Doesn't matter, works fine with other SIMs, such as Aldi ones.
