I have been looking at beach tents and saw that Kathmandu currently have a upto 60% off sale and saw their small beach tents (still 4m2) were down to $30.
The large is $59.98 at 7m2.
Can't comment on the quality but I figure for $30 can use it until the xmas sales and then might get a better quality one. They had plenty of stock in Sydney city store don't know about other stores.

In my experience, it sucks to set up a beach tent with loose poles - especially compared to the pop up style.

From a quick search I can't see any cheap ones, but our pop up one was $20-30 from Aldi.

Is the 4m2 including the fold out flap?. If so, the shelter is only about 2m2
i have an older version of the small tent…
it's pretty good. poles are a bit of a pain during set up, but once the tent is up it's solid. withstood a drunk teenager falling onto it!
Nothing beats those tarp tents for the beach. Easy to install and sturdy.
