Meguiar's Gold Rush Gift Bucket $39.99 @ Repco. $90 Value

810

Contains Wash, Liquid Wax, Protectant, Wheel Cleaner, Tire Gel, Microfibre Polishing Cloth & Foam Applicator Pad. The wax alone sells for $35 at Repco & £15.64 ($28.37 without shipping) at amazon.co.uk so the pack is great value.

The Mothers gift bucket is the same price and also awesome value. I think Meguiars vs Mothers is a bit like Ford vs Holden everyone seems to have there own opinion.

If you have spent most of your money at David Jones thanks to all these Amex rebates you can get a Turtle gift bucket for $24.99 or the Repco budgo bucket for $23.99.

    Wax on, wax off….

i just take my car to the bikini car wash and watch the babes get wet.

  • Meguiars and Mothers are the best of the brand name stuff. Good all in one bucket for e casual user at a great price.

      No love for Autoglym?

      • I think I've just been Americanised.

      • +2

Yea there is, there's similar Autoglym pack for $10 less in catalogue next to this item.

    • +2

Not really, there are many other products available these days which blow meg's and Mothers out of the water (brands such as Zaino, Poorboys, Swissvax etc) which is comparable cost wise. You use less product as well with those other brands as they are far more concentrated.

      • -2

        Poorboys lol

      • +1

Fairly certain bxpressiv meant the mass market consumer stuff that's available everywhere. I only know of 2 shops in NSW(ZAS, CCP) that stock the specialty stuff.

        • +1

Not overly difficult though to order what you need from waxit etc and have it shipped overnight.

  • I use both Menzerna polish and cut wax made in Germany. They are very good products. Meguiar's is also very good and they are OEM for Merc's branded wax.

    SOLD!

I just wish there was a wax that made your car like Teflon thereafter, impervious to dirt and always shiny silky smooth - WAKE UP! :)

The trick I learnt is never compromise on your applicator or removing cloth, and never ever use cotton rags or cheap microfiber (more expensive ones are OK)

…and…only buy a black car if you are a masochist

    • try a paint sealant like Wolf's Chemicals Nano Hard Body…it comes pretty close ;) i've found it lasts much longer than any wax i've tried before (it's rated to last at least 1 year).

also, do you do an IPA wipe before applying wax? final protection bonds onto the paint better, buffs off easier and will last longer if you do.

and re: black cars…i find red car gets dirty just as quickly and easily as the black one, even though i only drive it twice a week and it sits in the carport most of the time. i still give them a quick clean with a spray detailer after every drive, even though i know that in a few hours, i'll see a lovely layer of dust on them again :\

      • thanks for that info.

        What is IPA?
Re black cars, I meant more that micro scratches are so visible compared to grey etc.

          Isopropyl Alcohol

        • what xis123 said :)
or you can get a product like CarPro Eraser which is an IPA premix. also smells amazing :p

Re black cars, I meant more that micro scratches are so visible compared to grey etc.

also depends on whether your paint is metallic and/or has a clear coat. then again dirt covers scratches well lol

      • Why do you treat your car like a show vehicle?
I drive mine hard like a mule and don't care how it looks. Then again, I have no sentimental attachment to my Daewoooooooooo.

        • if my cars were show cars, i'd be even more religious with the detailing!

nah, this is just basic paint care. one of my cars is 24 years old and the spray painter was amazed at the condition of the original paint compared to the accident-repaired panel with fresh paint.

while i'm never going to sell my cars, looking after your paint also helps with resale value ;)

    • You can thank me later!

I would actually be interested to see how this would perform as a coat on a car.

I'm not sure if this bucket is like the other buckets but sometimes they put in smaller sizes of the wax and wash so although the wax may cost $35 on the shelf it probably contains more wax than the one in this bucket… But if someone has purchased one of these and can confirm that they are of the same size that would be great, still it is pretty good value.

    • +1

I can confirm its the same size as on the shelf

Edit: Well it certainly looks that way.. its 473ml and comes in the same box as the shelf.

  • Awesome deal. Will be getting mine tomorrow!

  • Normally use Meguiars NXT 2.0 wax which is excellent, so will be getting the Meguiars bucket, thanks OP.

If both your local Supercheap auto and Repco stock the buckets, you can go to Supercheap auto to price beat them. From memory I got either 5 or 10% off when I got Supercheap to pricebeat Repco for my Castrol Edge last time.
Quick search on Supercheap website shows that they stock the Mothers bucket (http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/online-store/products/Mothe…) for $46 but I can't seem to be able to find the Meguires one unfortunately.
I might swing by tomorrow for a visit

  • Great find, thanks OP! I was looking for something like this.
This + the Nulon Oil combo deal from Supercheap Auto = win.

  • Get some Klasse polish. Lasts ages and has a great shine.

  • Just got mine from the hornsby store. They still have a couple left.

  • Looks like im washing my car today. sigh. Thanks ozbargain.

  • Does anyone have a good link which explains the best way to do the wax? I have never properly waxed a car.

    • Should be a number of Autogeek / Mike Phillips videos on YouTube. Check then out

    • here's a good write-up: http://howto.carcareproducts.com.au/2009/09/28/applying_waxi…

basically: good prep of the surface, keep it clean and thin layers! also try to do it on days where there is low humidity, otherwise the wax takes longer to cure and often streaks

Called up the Braddon ACT store to check stock at arounnd 10.30am this morning - sold out. But the store assistant arranged for a stock transfer from one of the nearby Belconnen/Fyshwick stores. Apparently they have a company driver that travels between stores daily, so my order arrived by 1.30pm, free. Definitely two thumbs up for the service!

  • Got this. Thanks op.
Saw a luggage basket for $69. Got that as well.

Sincere thanks to the OP for this. Xmas present to self.

Now I'll have something to do in the garage on those long summer nights with a long neck (and a very long arm).

The tire stuff smells AWESOME, so keep it away from young ones as they will really want to drink it…

Oh, my chiropractor thanks you too - he always profits from my physical exertions.

  • I will be getting 1 if in stock

  • +1

Got 1, washed my car and then within 24 hours I had rain and dirt all over it…

Still the tyre gel really makes my tyres look new!

  • Looking into getting this for Dad. Can anyone confirm availability at any Perth stores?
