  • The $349 desktop looks OK for that price.

You could maybe pair it with one of these:
    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/122471

…for a $468 gaming rig if you really didn't want to build one yourself, just be mindful that everything but the CPU, motherboard and HDD are no-name parts. They'll probably work if this is your budget, but I usually wouldn't recommend a non-name PSU.

      i3 gaming rig?

      • +7

there's nothing wrong with gaming on an i3

Ai! Save the money you would've used on an i5 and get a better GPU.

The smart moneys always been on a better GPU than CPU for gaming though.. :)

      • Confusion is perfectly understandable, Intel does that deliberately. But yeah, there's no guarantee that i7's are significantly faster than i5's, or that they're faster than i3's. Just more expensive.

You have to look at benchmarks just to find out something so simple, unfortunately.

How much for just the CPU, motherboard and RAM?

    • Well asked, you said what I am thinking.

  • +2

Rep, post for the desktop says Asus H81M-E Mainboard while site says Gigabyte H81 motherboard.

    Also, what's shipping?

    • Hi there,

      The motherboard is Asus H81M-E

  • Not in Sydney.

    • Hi there
We can do shipping to Sydney

Is there anyway to legally obtain Windows for less than $119?

  • Some people less than appreciate the build because of the case + PSU. I have to say seeing PCs with a 8Gb single DIMM is much better than builders that use 4 slots with 2GB each to slightly lower costs.

    • Well given 1 DIMM means you lose the extra speed of dual channel support, I cannot agree..

    What brand is the PSU?

That's the most important thing if anyone is going to put a graphics card in. Some generic PSUs won't power a 7850 card for some reason because they are over-rated or don't have enough voltage on "specific" voltage lines.

Either way, it's alright as a starting point but a poor PSU is just going to have you doing RMAs on behalf of your clients. Especially if it takes out the other reasonable equipment.

Yes good point, I too am interested in the PC but would like to know the brand of PSU as I may have to factor additional upgrades when installing my video card.

      Could you please elaborate Rep?

Also if you follow the link to your website, under overview for this system it states
"This Intel GEN4 core i3 powered prebuilt Budget Box is everything you'll need in a home computer system.
It includes an Intel GEN4 Core i3-4130-3.4Ghz CPU, Gigabyte H81 motherboard, 8GB DDR3 1600MHZ RAM, 1TB HDD and great quality ATX case with 550w PSU."

But under the tab specifications it says 500W so which one is being supplied and can you provide details please?

        • +1

C'mon rep it's been 3 days and you still can get back to important details about the build?

      • H there,

The PSU is Cooler Power going along with the case

  • How's this compare with a AMD FX-6300?? For gaming/software development that is…
