  People have reported Western Digital as using soldered wiring, not a normal SATA plug. I'm not sure if this only applies to the portable type drives though. I'd never buy a drive without a proper SATA plug, the enclosures fail too often and then you're stuffed without the option of removing the drive.

  The 2TBs I bought from the same source recently has WD green inside. Simple unplug the USB interface and happily running in my NAS.
