Also worth noting the brand is called "Automatic", it doesn't run around your yard for you.

    • That's what is says in the description, but point noted.

      • Might save a few people a click if title is more clear that brand is Automatic.

        Edit: You did :)

    • Interesting though… what is the wire loop up the top of the push bar? Looks suspiciously like a clutch bar doesn't it? Is this thing self propelled?

      • Its a safety thing, you gotta hold that to the push bar for the engine to work.

Serious? So to start the motor I have to use position 459 from the Karma Sutra, "left leg o'er right ear'ole and pull vigorously", then go through the same process to empty the catcher?

          Sirius suckage.

        • Yup.. One I bought from Bunnings ages ago has the same thing.

You could cable tie it but then you'd have to wait for it to run outta go juice every time you want it to stop.

Its not as much of a hindrance as you think it would be.

        • Genuine Honda Lawn Mowers have a similar safety bar. Not that it makes thing any better but just saying…

      • After 3 sec of letting go the motor cuts out. Get some velcro like many do.

    • The image is misleading, thank!

    • I think "Chonda" is the correct name - you can work it out. Be prepared to be laughed at if you try to make a warranty claim at a honda dealer. The problem is the deck will probably rust out while the motor is still purring along.

So pretty much a civic with blades on the bottom? Cooooool.

  • The soft catcher is the only drawback, after a year they just fall to bits.

  • I bought one same size and brand from BigW 2 years ago for $128 with 3 year warranty. I thought it was worth it just because of warranty period after I spent more for old one to repair!!! It is a small in size but hasn't missed a bit.
It maybe ideal for small size yard and good to know it will fit in your car boot (even for corolla).
I believe mower is good mechanically but price is not a bargain at all.

      You mean this one? http://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/37142/7319/img_2919.jpg

It's same brand and may be chassis, but not a Honda motor.

Yes, I got that one too. Same (stupid) brand name, different engine. Ok for small yards that are regularly maintained. Crap for wet or long grass. Height position level slips regularly (Think I'll have to bend it this year). No primer bulb and unprecise throttle control but biggest pro is that it does start pretty easily compared to my old Victa.

I remember when even at the cheap end lawn movers had rubber wheels and solid catchers. Definitely built to throw away after a few years these days (or when the catcher rips apart, fat chance to get a replacement).

I got one of these and it didn't uptake air (air valve was kind of stuck shut). Then after playing with it a bit it was stuck full open (ran ridiculously high revs). Then after having to use a rubber band to hold it open just right it worked OK. I did call up and try to get a replacement but they told me I had to send the lawn mower to Honda (yeah right!!!) I argued with them which just ended in them saying no. I guess I'm not unhappy with it (it does work very well now) I just think Big W's service was far less than extraordinary.

  • No expert on these kinds of things but I bought a ROVER 190CC from Costco like a week ago, and I set it up today and must say I'm rather happy with it. Has that bar also, but looks mean, and has some Mulch things and a section you connect your garden hose so it cleans itself also. I was joking with a friend but it has a Cold Air Intake… =P but yeah the air filter runs from a long pipe up to the top. Guy at Bunnings told me the only thing they use to have that has that was over $900, could be pulling my leg through. Oh and it was $399.99.
