  • Amazon US is a good place for toys and games. I gave up on Lego decades ago, but I still purchase the occasional action figure. Shipping is $4 per pound, which is good, especially for low weight, bulky plastic items. About 70% of their toys they ship to AU.

One tip is to always check the actual dimensions of items rather than to rely on photos.

  • Some good prices on Lego @ Amazon - picked up the Millennium Falcon yesterday for under $150 delivered.

    • Agreed - all of my recent Lego purchases have been from Amazon. Got the Super Star Destroyer for around $350 at the start of the year.

The only problem is the thing is so bloody massive I have no place to put it haha.

  • do these sets go up in value over time? seems like this is a re-release of a re-release of a re-release :O

    • original sets yes, re-releases no

    • +1

Depends.. What theme it is, whether the minifigures are popular or fan favourites, if they appear in alternate sets, the rarity of pieces, whether there's a planned redesign, etc.

Newer sets have longer and larger production runs so I doubt they'd appreciate much. Plus TLG designers are getting better so modern sets have significant commonality. A set's resale value is largely dictated by the uniqueness of its parts and minifigs. If it's using standard pieces, anyone can find the instructions and source the rest via bricklink.

  • …560-piece X-Wing …

I'm meant to, like, assemble all 560 pieces of this thing?

I have enough trouble getting my stapler working properly.

…picked up the Millennium Falcon yesterday…

    You mean this one.

Holy Jesus: check out this one - 5195 pieces for almost USD 4,000.

    I just didn't know…

    • Heh. The UCS Falcon. Picked up mine some years back for $750 during Kmart's midyear toy sale. It was the most I'd spent on a single set and took a fortnight of scheduled build times to finish. Now I don't have the space and it's sitting in a box in the study. It's not MISB so I doubt I'd get 4 grand for it, but it's a tidy sum if I ever decide to finance a new car.

      • Got an MISB falcon, a whole bunch of MISB stuff.

        • MISB Lego/videogames makes me a bit sad :( I feel that these sort of toys are meant to be played with.

In saying, I wouldn't mind a full mint set of the UCS series haha.

        • +3

I'm in the same boat. I collect toys because I intend to play with, or display them. Boxed toys give me a weird 'Stinky Pete' vibe, they feel like they should be loved. That said, I have a bunch of MISB Lego too when I don't have the time to build them, the shelf space to display them, or they're doubles/triples and I've already opened one… aka I have a LOT of X-Wings. :)

        • +4

Well the only reason I have them MISB is because I intended to build them for display in my mancave a long time ago. Still waiting to have my own basement, not shared with kids etc.
FWIW I have a wife and child, and do not look like Steve Carrell.

          a long time ago

… in a galaxy far far away?

      • MISB = Mint (condition) In Sealed Box.

I learn so much on OB…

  • Great price. Hopefully the gunship drops in price too.

Friend sold his original falcon to a local Melbourne lego shop for au$3000 last week. Part of a deal worth about $16k. He had a lot of good, unopened and in perfect condition Lego.

Still can't figure out why those things appreciate so much though.

    Regards
    Daniel

Maybe you need to post this to YankBargain instead of here?

    • Are you trying to ship to a P.O. box? If so, try a street address instead.

    • i have the same problem :(

    • Assuming most of the Amazon deals prices posted up here are based on paying via 28degrees card.

      • Question: When purchase with 28degrees, is that means we can get free shipment to Australia as those ship to US?

        • +2

          Er, definite no to that

  • +1

Anyone know if both come with a stand?

    • +2

Neither come with stands (bought both while I was on holiday in the US recently)

  • +1

Damn you OzB… more lego on the way…

  • grabbed one thx.

  • Pity it isn't the more detailed version: http://shop.lego.com/en-AU/Red-Five-X-wing-Starfighter-10240 But great deal nevertheless :)

  • No PayPal payment option ?

    • It's amazon: Amazon vs PayPal vs GoogleWallet

  • +1

I picked up the X-Wing, TIE Fighter, B-Wing and Millennium Falcon while I was on holiday in America in October from various sources such as Amazon and in-store sales (yes it basically filled a suitcase), and those prices are pretty great even with delivery.

    • My priority for lego is this:
      1. Original Trilogy
      2. Prequel Trilogy

I don't collect stuff out of the clone wars universe, unless they are also found in the above 2.

      • +2

My kids aren't old enough to have shown the movies, original or otherwise. They have seen the Clone Wars cartoons so that's what they tend to gravitate towards.

Either way, they see Lego and the Star Wars logos and they will be happy!

  • has anyone come across any good deals for the ucs x-wing 10240?

    • ShopForMe is about the cheapest you'll find. $220-ish including shipping, which works out to be around the same if you ordered from a USA seller.

  • Awesome - thanks. We recently had bought the x-wing from Target apparently "on special" for about $90. This is a bargain even taking shipping into account. The Target one is going back…

  • ordered an x wing for a Christmas pressie.

    thanks op

  • Thanks! Gotta start watching Star Wars.

  • Yep, joining the throngs of Christmas buyers, apparently. This is for my nephew, who is Lego mad. One present down, half a dozen to go.

  • I've tried to do a search to see how people are getting around amazon not shipping lego to Australia, but the best I could find was a list of mail forwarders. Which service are people using? The couple I have looked into, their fees usually end up making it about the same as prices here :/

    • +2

I had no problems with having it sent to my Australian address. In fact, I've already received an email saying the order has shipped.

  • Sorry, I own this set already, but I've tried purchasing this set (up to the final place order step) and it works fine. So a revised question, have they changed their policy recently on shipping certain items internationally?

  • great value ! got one of each
    also liked the sith fighter

  • +1

It wouldn't let me ship to Sydney - which is odd. I'm assuming there are people from Sydney here who got it shipped to them? Is it something to do with my actual Amazon account?

    • Yes - i'm in Adelaide and it won't let me ship it

      Can anyone help here??

    • i got it shipped to me. i am in the inner south west of sydney

  • +1

Yup…looks like they have changed the shipping policy on these Lego items…I suspect that the orders that did make it through were from an Amazon facility that could pack and post internationally. Now that the stock in that facility are exhausted, the new orders have probably gone to an Amazon facility that won't do international postage…I should have bought my 3 sets last week!

  • I got a shipping notice on the X-Wing but not on the Tie Fighter. If they have changed their policy, I wonder if the Tie Fighter will go out? Did anyone get a shipping notice for that item already?

    • yeah i can also ship the tie fighter to Adelaide, but i really want the x-wing.

  • All this talk of X-Wing fighters and Tie fighters by what appears to be grown men, and perhaps women, makes me laugh.

Having said that, i suddenly want one of each…

  • Workshop manual for Death Star released.

  • Arrived today. (Tie Fighter)
