idk about this one, but my phone, 4GB as well, has ~1GB for apps and whatnot.
Damn……
1 of my favourite apps is bigger than 1GB.I will give this phone a pass no matter how good it is.
I believe (can someone confirm) that Android 4.2+ natively supports installing to SD card. On my phone I can choose where apps get installed as well as move them from internal to external after they have been installed.
Side note; my China phone (Tronsmart TS7) occasionally seems to install 'random apps'. Twice an installer for Baidu browser has appeared, something called 'Games 447' (from memory), and now a new one called 'DU Battery Saver'. This somewhat dampens my opinion of Chinese phones… what other stuff is being put on, or worse, what's being taken off?
I haven't been able to do that with my THL W8 (JB 4.2). Cannot install games larger than what is available on the phone, and even the Storage settings do not change the target destination. The phone will always install on internal memory first.
I can however move apps AFTER installation but there's no point in doing so if the game doesn't install in the first place.
root and install another ROM, that way you have more control over the phone.. especially if you're suss there's Trojan like activity taking place.
My experience, thus far, with Chinese android phones is that 4gb is enough space for apps. By default, data [photos etc] cannot be side loaded to the internal rom, so it is necessary to buy an external card.
If anyone purchases this phone, I would suggest proceeding to checkout with the USD price 133.69 as the AUD price displays as 150.48. Today PayPal's rate is 1 USD = 1.00082 AUD, meaning the final AUD price should be 133.59.
[By the way, I have ordered this phone from another Chinese seller. Hopefully, it will arrive by the end of the week.]
looks okay, this one looks good too

Need to find a good 900mhz wcdma one, 850mhz is not good for optus.
2100 isn't terrible for optus though. "The Optus 2100 MHz 3G band is predominantly deployed in cities and major regional areas. The ACMA has recently granted Optus, an additional 972 x 2100 MHz licences for regional and rural capacity expansion – ref ACMA ref Optus Media Release" http://whirlpool.net.au/wiki/mobile_phone_frequencies
yeah I'm currently using a 850mhz HTC velocity and it really isnt that bad. Still get 2g coverage in rural areas just less 3g. Nice to have 900 3g though
This one has 3G 900/2100 MHz
http://www.focalprice.com/MH0840W/Lenovo_A760_English_Chines…Yeah that one looks good, I heard that lenovo phone have heaps of bloatware on there so I went with a pomp w89 from a previous deal. still hasnt arrived yet….
Also I've heard alot about guys ordering 900mhz phones and actually getting 850mhz phones so really I decided not to worry too much about the 850mhz dilemma.
I got the ZTE v967s (approx $150 including express shipping to Aus), similar specs to this 5inch, Mediatek processor and a 2500mah battery. Had to install a custom english ROM from Xdadevelopers, but I'm pretty happy with it.
Does it have an electronic compass? And does it support remote music control via the earphone button?
For the money I would far prefer the Lenovo a820 http://www.merimobiles.com/lenovo-a820-4-5-inch-android-4-1-… It uses the same harware but is 900/2100 so for optus rather than telstra, and misses the front camera, but lenovo are the 4th largst phone manufacturer in the world, so i is pretty decent (I have one, tho I went singapore post, only a week and a half to regional aus).
It has a HUGE user base and heaps of roms etc available, and if you spend over $150 (another $5, to have it rooted and google play installed for instance, or a case or whatever) use the code KOBE to get 5% off.
Merimobiles are also offering DHL shipping for the price of EMS, about a 1/3rd saving, if you are in a hurry to get it.
They also offer a full year wty and pay for return shipping in the event you need it.Just be aware that ROOT is pretty much mandatory on Lenovo phones (see comments on Merimob), due to the lack of Google Play and the fact that Lenovo loves to pre-load chinese bloatware onto the stock rom.
Yeah, but dead easy to do even if you choose not to pay the few dollars to do so
Wow what's a clone lol
I have this phone. bought it for $140ish 3 months ago or so. have no complaints with it. games play well. wifi is great. calls are clear. it scrolls well, apps load quickly, battery life is fine- I charge it every second day (depending on usage). have a 16gb micro sd card in it and have every app transferred to it (aside from the system apps that can't be moved)so there is 3.2gb of internal mem vacant.
I'm a light user. i.e. I don't text heaps or facebook from it, or talk for hours per day.Does it have an electronic compass? And does it support remote music control via the earphone button? I have a THL W100 which is excellent but it does not support the mic button at all and another model does not a digital compass.
Does it have an electronic compass?
not that I can see. would I install it from google store or should it be there already?
does it support remote music control via the earphone button?
no idea.
sorry.
Electronic compass should be there already. Run Antutu to check if the sensor is there.
Use an earphone with a mic button to see if it can pause and play music or end callelectronic compass not supported.
have to find the earphones that came with the phone to test remote music control.
Can you post some sample photos taken from the phone? Some 8MP phones are worse than 5MP phones.
I would love to see a photo or two, too. Price is great, but if the cam is so bad, it may not be worth it. Thanks a lot!
How long does it take to deliver? 4 weeks or longer?
Hi,
The shipping method is as follows:
Airmail and register airmail
United States,Canada: 6-14 business days
Australia,New Zealand,Singapore: 5-11 business days
United Kingdom, France, Spain, Germany, Netherlands, Japan, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Norway, Portugal, Sweden, Switzerland: 7-15 business days
Italy , Brazil: 10-25 business days
Other countries: 7-15 business days
EMS: 3-6 business days to worldwide
DHL/UPS: 2-3business days
Built-in Memory RAM: 1GB, ROM: 4GB
the internal storage seems too small.
The Android OS will no doubt take some spaces.
how much room will I have for Apps?
