probably not for the clearance items, but I used the BigW PS3 12gig + Tomb Raider @ $199 deal to price match at JB, then did some haggling to walk away with the console, BO2, GTAv and GT5 at $239 - I added a 250gb Sata drive I had spare to give me everything I need. I think they got a little confused in the haggle.

For those of you with small kids and don't want to have the discs damaged, it's very easy to soft mod a WII to use a hard drive to play the games instead of a disc. (I ripped all my WII games for this reason).

Definitely does.
It's not "very easy" though. Requires firmware downgrading, installing several packages from an SD card, some of which you need to manually configure some values in a DOS like environment on the Wii, and there are no real straight forward guides to doing it on the later models (at least not that I found). It's well worth it when it's all done though. I'm tempted to buy another as a backup and actually document the entire process this time rather than trying to piece together what to do from various guides and pulling my hair out at times.
just Google "modmii" that program makes it about as easy as it gets to softmod a console.

I still wouldn't exactly call it "very easy" though - it's not something that average Joe Blow is going to do, not like jailbreaking an iphone was back in the days of jailbreakme.com or "jailbreaking" a DS/3DS. It's still a pretty hands on and lengthy process.

huh? you download the Modmii program, run it, choose the options you want and it auto downloads and patches the files and then you copy it to an SD card, insert it in the Wii, follow the few instructions and it's modded? If you can read and follow sequential instructions, it's not fekkin hard.
again, "very easy" is jailbreakme.com - go to site in browser on phone, press button, done. modmii looks to take a lot of the stress out of it, but its not what your average person would call "very easy".
I would say if people have trouble modding their wii, they're not going to find doing anything with it easy either. Still gotta download/make backups of their games, format a hdd correctly, install the WAD files or whatever theyre called…etc.
Thank god those 160gb PS3 are probably low on stock, I would be sorely tempted to buy my 3rd PS3 as 'insurance'. Shame the PS4 has no BC.

As far as I am aware paywall only applies for PS4. It doesn't apply to F2P games either, so I'm pretty sure it will remain free, as will vita online play.
That was my understanding - reason I'm okay to cop flack for ps4 being avail next month and I just bought a ps3. Plus I want GT6.
When GT6 was announced for the ps3 I was sure that they wanted to start selling it and then after a couple of months or so rerelease it for ps4.
Turns out they are just going to release GT7 on the ps4 in a year (or just over). Sounds like they've found a way to double up and make even more money.

They also have cod ghosts for $68 on there. So for anyone looking to get BF4, COD Ghosts or AC4 on Ps4 at release, you could buy these (even if you don't have a ps3) and pay the $14.45 upgrade fee for BF4 and AC4 and the $10 fee for COD to be able to download the PS4 version. That works out at $82.45 for BF4, $78 for COD and $72.45 for AC4. The best price for the ps4 physical version of these games in aus I've found is $94. Decent saving for not doing much.

pfft - waiting. you'll be waiting for ever, there is always something better/cheaper/faster around the corner. its under $75 - whats your pain point? My kids love the Wii - PS3 is better for probably everything technical, but Wii for good old fashioned family fun.
I do find Nintendo consoles such as wii a better family or non-pro gaming console than a Sony ps3 but not sure about wiiu though. If you like mario and zelda these 2 games then Nintendo is the only choice you have here which is either a wii or wiiu.

You won't get any better than this for a console + game deal. Also I believe Wii has just stopped being manufactured so it won't be sold at all new pretty soon. It has a huge library of games that are perfect for family/friends, just make sure you look at reviews before you buy anything because for every good game available there is also a terrible game. Also Mario Kart Wii is a lot of fun.

Just checked with a store manager at my local branch. These are very limited clearance offers and they are not getting new stock from the head office.
They are also under instruction not to accept prior orders at those prices. So be prepared to be disappointed next week.

You are lucky to have the option. I have been to a total of 7 BigW stores in Brisbane over the past few days chasing clearance items for wii/PS3.
Best I have managed was to find a couple of stores with 1 or 2 wii's left.
None have anything resembling a PS3 slim. At least not in the Brisbane area.

Did you get an email notification from Big W? I paid via PayPal but lost mobile reception during payment. PayPal order notification came through, nothing from Big W.

Based on their past $10 sales if the game you're interested in is more than three years old there's a decent chance it'll be on clearance. Stocks vary by store, just scan 'em and see (because they don't always retag them once they've been repriced).
Just got the Wii bundle at Forrest hill chase. In their system it doesn't start till Thursday, but because I'm such a nice guy they honoured it early because in the online catalogue it still says Monday when you click on the item in the catalogue, even though the front of the catalogue has been updated to Thursday.
Monday's a short time to start a sale.
