        • Just bought one from SPEARWOOD W.A.
          One left as of 7pm.

    • I successfully purchased one online on the afternoon of the 23rd. Got the shipping confirmation yesterday.

  • out of stock

  • Out of stock Mt Druitt & Plumpton NSW

  • I bought this last night. The keys from J to Enter make clacky sounds and feel a bit funny. I don't know what to do about that. I'll use it as much as possible over the weekend to see if it bothers me. Apart from that, it seems fine. It looks good and feels good. The touchpad isn't perfect, but it's okay - not sure why people were complaining. Maybe they don't know how to get the best out of it? But I haven't found how to turn it off when an external mouse is plugged in. Battery seems to be headed for 5-6 hours on power saver settings and 3/10 brightness. Windows 8 sucks. Instead of making your experience easier, it makes you struggle and think. It also does ugly things like making the title bar white for office programs. Bondi Junction and both George Street branches were out of stock. Broadway branch had 5 left last night.

Any experiences thoughts about those 6 clacky keys? Do you think they will wear in? I hate dragging it back and waiting for weeks over something that might be minor in the long run.

I would be tempted to try get an exchange at another store. Just say there appears to be a manufacturing fault with the keyboard and that keys J thru enter have a different tactile feedback that the rest of the keys, making it difficult to type.

If you get lucky they might exchange it then and there.

As for windows 8, buy Start8 for $4.99 to get your start menu back. Made the transition much easier for me.

I seem to have the same problem, from A to L, DSE staff said I need to contact Acer first to see if they deem it a fault.

  • I ordered one online and they accepted the order but the status is stuck order fulfillment so i am not sure when I will get it.

I am a bit worried that it would take them more than 2 weeks to pack/ship and I will miss out on the rebate as I cant claim the rebate till I have the box :(

Does anyone know if I can still claim the rebate after the 14 days period?

    • If you can show proof that it took them more than 2 weeks to dispatch it you should be able to email cashback support and get it extended, but it may be more easier to get dicksmith to send you a new invoice with a new date on it. I did that with Bing Lee.

      • Awesome, thanks for the reply, DSE have charged my Credit Card so they are very efficient at getting their money but its been in awaiting fulfillment for two days now. I might ring them later this afternoon to see where the hold up is.

        • 2 days sounds pretty normal to me. But I would still give them a call, with the way the website was acting yesterday it wouldn't surprise me if they are struggling to gather the required stock levels.

And yes you'll find most companies are very efficient at getting their money off you haha, trying to get a refund is another matter entirely. That can take weeks to 'process'.

Star Track attempted to deliver mine today and failed. And of by "attempted" and "failed" they of course mean they didn't attempt at all - someone has been home all day. Goddamn couriers.

  • 1 each available in Malvern & Mentone besides the display pieces for those in Melbourne.

  • Only display models are left, from Sunshine, Highpoint, Moonee ponds, Watergardens, Bourke st, Northlands ( Melbourne) That I know. I was told that the new Broadmeadows store might have some on 25/10/13.

  • Melbourne, every store sold out. I purchased the display model from Camberwell. It was fully reset, placed back into the box and was given a good clean.

Really happy with the purchased, laptop is pretty damn good for the price.

Speakers are excellent, Windows 8 isn't loaded with lots of crap-ware (just McAfee and Trial Office).
Windows 8, however, is a piece of crap - stuck in some… tablet/desktop limbo. It's practically unusable in Windows 8 mode when using the trackpad.

Trackpad is large and nice to use. two finger scroll is good, however not as good as a Mac.
Colour is nice, the gf loves the gold tint. Slap an SSD in there and it'd be a great budget machine!

    • massafiri, did they give you a discount on the display model?

  • Does it have HDMI?

Anyway, why does JB sell this for $800?

    Nevermind, figured it out.

NVIDIA GeForce GT 720M with 2GB Dedicated Graphics

Looks like I won't be able to price match it.
