  • Man, i paid $49.95 three weeks go…haha

    • me too.

  • Been looking at buying a Dremel from Amazon. Anyone know if these Ozito ones are any good?

    • +1

No proper manual to explain the tools/accessories BUT I jump on Dremel website to get the info.
Um, I have not used all the tools/accessories but for my DIY simple woodwork project (sanding especially) it was very sufficient. No doubt dremel is good and I think it depends on how often/heavy you are using it.
If I have the extra $$$ or someone would buy me one, I would go for Dremel. For $40 bucks, I think it would be a no brainer to get one (for my kind of DIY/simple project) than to spend nearly $150 for a Dremel.

    • Dremel from Amazon won't have the correct voltage, unless you buy from Europe or UK. And you'd need to convert the plug.

These Ozitos are cheap crap, but for occasional use they are perfectly fine. They spin, they make an evil sounding noise, and that's about it…. they do the exact same job.

Note that the included accessories are generally crap quality. Just use them and when they die then buy Dremel ones as repacements. The Ozito non-reinforced cut-off wheels are especially scary, and shatter far too easily.

  • Would this be suitable to do polishing of aluminium trim on my car? (assuming there's some cloth heads for it)

    • I Assume it would, but the cloth bit would be approx 15mm in diameter so would take a while if it was a large piece that you are polishing

      • It's pretty thin strip - only 15mm probably wide but along the length of the car and up the side of the windows

  • Dumbest question ever - but without bothering to Google, what do you actually use these things for?

    • no such thing as a dumb question, according to the box, Engrave,Cut,Sand and Polish personally i think it's most popular use for me will be cutting and grinding, obviously only small pieces won't be skimming my brake rotors with it.

    • They are used for doing fine custom work - cutting, grinding and polishing.

I use mine for computer case modding. A normal jigsaw will cut metal far more effectively, but the little tiny cut-off wheels on these rotary tools are still very handy for getting into tight places. They are great as a miniature grinding wheel to remove burrs from metal edges.

The are a bit of a toy in many ways, but lots of people do amazing things with them. Basically, they are a mini angle-grinder (that is not on an angle, which technically makes them a "die-grinder").

    • From what i saw last nigh you can use it extract trilobite fossils from stone.

  • nice - i think i'll pick one up on the way home tonight!

    thanks op

oh ya, forgot to mention the 3 years replacement warranty was pretty attractive…(for me)

Manual and pic of accessory kit in there also.

  • The red polishing stuff in mine is rock hard, no use at all.

  • Been eyeing these for a while. Much easier and precise than a bench grinder for what I want.

Just picked 1 up but they didn't have a stack. Needed to as a guy to get one.

  • The crotchety old bugger manning the counter at the tools section had no idea where to find these (turns out they were 1 step behind his counter). Then he didn't know they were marked down, so had to load OzBargain on the phone to find/show him the website price, and was all good. Thanks OP.

    • i had similar in Coburg Vic, computer showed 40 in stock but do you think they/we could find them ?,
decided not to go home defeated and went to Bunnings in Broadmeadows, to find them within 1 minute of walking in. must be hard to sell product you have in stock when a total of 4 staff members cannot locate it, the last guy even said these are the only ones we have, in reference to the one with 42 pieces, so may i suggest it his him who knocked of the 40 sets of the 183 piece kit.

  • Looked at these two days ago, the dremel lithium ion, was $99 with a kit box, ended up getting nothing
