That doesn't surprise me. Its like how many beer brands have "local" versions and then "restaurant" or "imported" versions (Heineken, Stella, Becks, Peroni (big difference) and others).
The consumers generally don't know or care enough to distinguish them, and they reap the profits either way.
It was like the whole Carlton Draught vs Crown conspiracy a few years ago, which I wouldn't be surprised if it was true.
I only buy imported stellas because I think the Aussie brewed stella tastes terrible.
I have noticed DM no longer say imported beer on their ads, rather they now say 'international' beer instead.

My local DM here in Perth (Morley) have increased the price of these
cartons of 500ml cans Stella, Becks & Heinies to $58.90.
Ever since they started to stock these slabs I have been buying them
and now they get a sniff that they are getting popular they up the bloody price
BASTARDS.
