Not a bad price for a Bianchi with Ultegra parts.
Note its not 100% Ultegra eg cassette is Tiagra

Seems like a great price for Bianchi and reasonable components.
I agree but a weird-ass 'groupset', Tiagra, 105, Ultegra and FSA all on the same bike.. A bike with an identity crisis :)
I don't think I've ever seen such a mix.
That said I'm not sure how much attention Tiagra v 105 v Ultegra really should get. I understand how the hierarchy works, but is a fair proportion of it just about creating price points in the bike market and associated bragging rights? i.e. Is Tiagra actually really a great cassette?
I'm guessing Bianchi know what their doing when they put a bike together but keen to hear other opinions :)
keen to hear other opinions :)
Well you'll definitely want to hear mine, because I agree with you completely.
You would expect the weight of the groupset to drop as the price goes up, no real point bragging about shimano, you need campo for that :)
no Android… oh right sorry wrong thread ;)
There are some sensible choices there with the cassette and chainring options with respect to hill-climbing.
Personally I wouldn't pay $1500 for an alloy frame with a tiagra/105/ultegra mix, no matter of the frame brand. In this case I really think you're paying for the name!
Its interesting isn't it. I read an article about frame materials and many are saying the carbon snob era may have passed and some makers (i.e. Cannondale) are sticking with Alloy frames as they can be made as light as carbon but have unique benefits.
I wonder whats better a really well made alloy bike or a poorer made carbon bike? (same price same componentry).
the cassette and chain are the cheapest components to chain
crc have the ultegra chain for ~$22
and the ultegra cassette for ~$48
if you want more ultegra, add that in to your cost.
According to this site - http://weightweenies.starbike.com/listings/components.php?ty…
There is basically no difference in weight Ultegra v Tiagra (12-25). Except for colour and logo they look the same.
If it were me I'd wear out the Tiagra gear then upgrade :)
