well it really depends on which council you are at. As with the tight ass Maribyrnong council, I have been given a printout of the local laws which prohibits the use of our CHIMENEA. And this item is also banned from being used OUTDOORS…… Unless you apply for a PERMIT and they grant it.
I pointed out to them that in Frankston council they allow the use of Chimenea's… And the council officer promptly said not in this council. I was threatened that if I do not extinguish it they will call MFB to extinguish it and we will be left with a big bill from MFB…. The funny thing is that my good friend who works for the MFB told me that it is usually the Council that will issue the fine not them. They won't usually bill residents for such call.
Don't forget to add the $2,000 local government fine for an outdoor fire.
