I think this is the cheapest new notebook in the market. You get what you pay for! Consider passmark to see how woeful the CPU is: http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_list.php

  • As terrible as performance may be, still an excellent computer for those who've never owned one before or someone who wants a cheap notebook to travel around with. 14.1" form factor is good because the screen isn't terribly small and it's not too heavy either. Also GST is refundable if you travel with this overseas.

Has about the same performance as the Atom N270 in Passmark. Woeful indeed, but serves a purpose for many.

    • Has about the same performance as the Atom N270 in Passmark.

      From the linked PassMark list,

      • AMD Sempron SI-40 — 474
      • Intel Atom N270 — 246

So it's almost twice as fast… Not that it's fast, it's just N270 is extremely slow.

      • I was looking at the Sempron 2000+, my mistake :)

Thought it was a bit funny at first!

  • How's the battery life like?
    Anyone know?

  • Even though I posted this system, I cannot recommend it to anyone looking for any sort of performance. The $697 Compaq CQ60 offers far better performance, for $99 more.
