Exactly.
I think the Jetstar pricing is very very tempting though.
If you take into account the $5 CC fee charged by Tiger, Jetstar is a good $31 cheaper per person per flight, which is $62 cheaper returned. If you have more people the saving would be very substantial. (A saving of $248 for a family of 4)
Oh the savings are there for sure. In fact at this price I think most people would be happy to go to Avalon :)
Personally, I wouldn't. Here's why:
I made the mistake of going to Avalon for a bargain once before. The (2) tickets were saving me around $60 over traveling from Tullamarine.
But, it took around $15 in fuel $35 in parking and 45 mins (extra) in my time. I ended up saving myself about $20 when I factor in the cost of dropping $10 to a friend to drop/pick us up from the airport.
All things considered, I'd much prefer to fly from Tullamarine. But, I'm sure everyone is different :)
@[Deactivated]: Hence why I said most people ;)
But I agree with you, if it was me I would still go to Tulla.
cacbm - if you have a look jetstar charges $3 CC fee per sector, so only $2 less than tiger
I think Jetstar might have to offer these fares over the actual holidays before getting my money or many other people's vote…. Jetstar $69 out of AVV or TT $68 out of MEL…
Sorry Jetstar, Tiger for me now!
Here are the links for Adioso, which is the easiest way to find out when the sale fares are available…

I want the cheapest method to get to Melbourne CBD.
How long will it take to WALK to Melbourne CBD?
How do you get from Avalon to Melbourne CBD?
Is there a FREE "shuttle bus"?
Do Trams go there?
I have all day - that is, the length of time to get to CBD is not important to me.
I personally wouldn't walk, and would strongly advise against it.
There is no free shuttle bus as far as I'm aware -
Tullamarine to Southern Cross in CBD via Skybus is about $30 from memory.
Avalon to Southern Cross via SITA Coaches is about $20 to $25 from memory
There are no trams from the airport.
Skybus is $16 One way / $26 Return

guys this offer hasnt finished (or expired) i just booked tickets to go on the 9th of may. even the times are excellent for a saturday at 5pm, although id have liked a bit earlier.
anyway there are plenty of choices, its a bargain and a half.
cheers for this.
SNAP! I guess this is in retaliation to Tiger launching their new Melb -> Sydney route. Damn good deal at $39 but I'd rather pay the $68 and leave from Tullamarine airport.
