These headphones are quite recessed without an amp.

  • Bought the white ones for $40 last time…

Assuming you can use the $5 newsletter deal with it as well?
Very cheap price for decent headphones.

    • +1

nop.. the $5 coupon only for minimum $25 purchase
and you can only buy 1 for this item :(

    • minimum order value $25 for this code

      cheers.

    • I'd say the uptown are a much better deal, the downtown are cheaper, cheaper looking and don't sound as good as the uptown

  • -1

    Are these over ear phones?

    • yes.. this Philips uptown is in over ear headphones category.

    • +7

unless you have the worlds biggest ear canals :P

  • How is this compared to Sennheiser HD 439?

    • +2

Wtf just a question for opinion and got negged. are those neggers out of their mind?

      • Some people have poor forum etiquette

      • -2

Some people are just here to neg, negative energy

      • A quick way to say that they compare negatively?

  • Awesome price. I must resist..

  • so, which one is better, the Downtown or the Uptown series? I'm thinking of getting either one

    • -6

The answer pretty obvious, even without researching, uptown or downtown, which one is more expensive?

      • +1

With this sale the Uptown is cheaper - but the Uptown normally is more expensive, from my understanding.

      • @ plmko So if 2 identical items are advertised at 2 different prices is the more expensive one better?

      • hmmm not sure… if your only criteria is price, then it's more relevant to consider what discount is greater; The RRP of the uptown is higher than the downtown… and the sales price of the downtown is higher than the uptown… means discount on the uptown is bigger

      • facepalm clearly a beats fan

        • -5

Yes beats are so great, that I never actually had one and instead have a Sony SA-5000 combined with amp/DAC combo being fed from a USB source.

          facepalm

      • -3

People, you've all misread what I typed.

Let me spell it out: Uptown or Downtown.

What SOUNDS more expensive, is actually your answer.

    • +5

      Wait for Philips Ghetto :)

    • I have a Downtown (got it for 20 bucks at Marshalls in the states), its pretty good but I am no audiophile. The main downside is the cable, just seems a bit flimsy. I currently use on the laptop, so its not being moved around so can't really judge the durability of it.

I now have ordered a Uptown (it was 50 bucks at the Marshalls).

  • +12

    Damn you ozbargain.
Just bought another pair of headphones.
    Now have 4 sealed headphones.

Also added 1 x Philips Powerlife Alkaline AAA Batteries - 4 Pack to bring the total up to $25 so i could use the $5 off coupon

    • very good suggestion buddy.
follow this you can get free batteries and cheaper Philips uptown.

damn i must buy one pair again then.. LOL..

    • Did you ever consider you might be losing money and/or the opportunity to buy goods you want or need that don't have 3 other substitutes laying about the house already?

Far be it from me to tell anyone what to spend their money on but there seems to be a lot of impulse shoppers on Ozbargain who seem to lose more money than people who don't look for bargains and buy one item when they require it … just a thought ;)

      • +1

its the OzB effect - buy now & ask questions later

This will probably end up being a Kris Kringle this December or a Birthday present for someone.

Believe me , nothing goes to waste

  • I couldn't pass this deal up, I've already got a pair of uptowns in silver… I even went out of my way to use the newsletter voucher by adding a sodastream flavour to my purchase.

    Get in on it!

  • thanx op :)

    • +2

Not as good — they usually sell for $29 dollars.

  • i can't find one near my area for pickup - are people ordering delivery?

    • -3

Same here, $6 delivery kinda ruins the deal. Hmm…

      • only pickup i could find was wiley park or erina.. $26 still a good deal i guess

        • cool thanks - got it at wiley

        • Ordered at Wiley as well, solid 20 minute drive. Couldn't get one from Liverpool :(

        • +3

          average fuel economy = 10L/100km
          20min drive = ~15kms
          return trip = 30kms
          fuel price 1.50/L
          3*1.50 = 4.50

so an hour's time for $1.50 savings, hats off to true ozb spirit!

        • +4

Tomorrow's Sunday, and its Sunny/Mostly Fine in all capital cities except Perth. So get on your bike and save the $4.50.

      • Really? I posted the last deal for them, and this is $20 cheaper again…. But $6 postage? HOLD ON THERE, WE HAVE A PROBLEM.

  • +1

Thanks man, didn't really NEED them…but couldn't resist. Got a case o' the ozbargains I think.

    • cheers mate,

      i actually didn't need too..
but now i have black and white color,
      damn OzB.. :D

  • i'm not sure if a new code is issued every 100 hours or issued individually. In any case, feel free to try mine if you can't be bothered to sign up:

    • +1

thanks, but doesn't seem to be working

  • Thanks OP got a pair :D

  • Glad I resisted the urge and held off from last time the deal was on. Damn you OzBargain!

  • +1

Dam it I just paid $46 last time :(

  • +1

    Out of stock online

  • out of stock!

    • still can get in store but these figures are not live. There is every change all store stock has been exhausted. I think they are trying to clear left over stock after the previous sale http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/113740 . I don't see there being much stock at all and this may end up in tears for many.

      • you know what, i can totally see HN charging me $9 for the battery and failing to deliver the headphones

  • Had it in my cart and went out of stock while entering address :(

  • +3

Good thing the OzBargainer in me made me buy them before even researching how good these actually are.

    • Me too.

  • Why did I even bother thinking, I had it in my cart and in check out and waited another 5 minutes stupidly and now it's out of stock.

    • Checked your local stores for free pickup? Two out of three locals had them for me.

      • Yeah my local says it's in-stock in-store. So I might end up just going there and giving it a shot.

        • Picked mine up this morning, sweet.

    • Quite a few stores in Melbourne have stock. Although I am not sure how fast they are updated.

  • For those lucky enough, if it says you have to wait for their confirmation to pick up the order, does that mean I have to wait until monday or can I go tomorrow to HN and pick it up?

  • I ended up settling with these, and some AA batteries too.
    http://www.harveynorman.com.au/philips-citiscape-downtown-he…

  • Out of stock :(. That'll teach me for thinking twice.

    • First rule of OzB .. buy first, ask questions/think later

Please proceed to the disciplinary window and hand in your Ozbargain badge

  • also change the title to downtown to avoid confusion

  • Thanks Neil for editing..
very good bargainers, out of stock already for uptown.
    downtown still available.

  • +1

    Thanks OP!

Was a hard decision between uptown and downtown - decided downtown for comfort from reviews here (esp someone wearing glasses): http://www.head-fi.org/t/606124/phillips-citiscape-downtown-…
Added to my stash of 12x headphones!

  • Thanks - just picked up the downtowns… :D

That's the 2nd week in a row I've donated to Gerry - picked up the Logitech K400R almost exactly this time last week as well! :D

    • Love my K400. Makes surfing on the HTPC a breeze.

  • +1

There's also this UPTOWN one for $22, is it good?
    http://www.harveynorman.com.au/philips-citiscape-collection-…

    • +1

      sold out though.

      • yeah, could not find one. they are clearance stock and no longer available.

    • you missed the train mate..
      :D

  • Oh snap, I just realised that I picked up the UPTOWNS instead of the DOWNTOWNS.

Apparently the UPTOWN is a better quality can than the DOWNTOWN and is higher up the tier of Philips headphones. So you guys should snap that up while you can.

  • sold out online but still in stock at my location. Whats the point of having an online store that puts orders through their retail locations for pickup if they don't want to sell available inventory at the stores? will have to wait till tom. to see if they have any I guess.

  • G'day mate should I go for the downtown headphones if I am out and about? are they small foot print thanks waiting for your reply

  • Couldnt use the welcome $5 discount on orders under $25 so decided to get the grey Philips downtown which are $27.

    • +1

buy the battery like one of the earlier comments stated

      • Got about 50 eneloops as a result of this site don't need any more batteries ;-) I like the grey ones better anyway.

        • But you get 2 dollars off in the end. Who cares if you don't need the batteries, the 2 bucks is the benefit and the batteries means even better

        • Mathematically u are correct. But like I said I prefer the look of the grey ones

        • Like wise here. I ended up going for the Grey ones as well.

  • Please make it clear in your post, the Black is UPTOWN which is a better version has been SOLD OUT, the Grey and the Brown is DOWNTOWN which is the cheaper series.

    • There are still stores where the Uptown is available, Ipswich, Warwick and Dalby being some of them.

  • Thanks OP. FYI everyone… it looks like the inline microphone and volume control works for both Android and iPhone.
