I don't think you can connect GameCube controllers to it though…
I'm pretty sure you can use the loaders to map the gcn buttons to the wiimote /classic controller
Saw inside the guts of a new model the other day, the internal chassis still has the cutouts for the gamecube controllers, but there's no sockets behind it of course.
There are adapters which allow you to plug your Game Cube controller to the Wii remote.
I think I'll get one just because it's only about $20 more than buying the included motion plus wiimote and nunchuk on their own.
WOW.I remember paying $326 for my Wii back in 2007 a year after it came out.
Yeah, they totally should of
although the 360 would have died long ago
wild fanboys appear!
The old Wii still sells better than Wii U.
This deal keeps coming back was already $99 last year, don';t think it will be any cheaper.
I thought this was $79 @dick smith back to a year ago? How did the price go up after the release of wiiu?
Then it went at half of that again.
What is the best way to get a black Wii with Gamecube compatability???
eBay, Gumtree? Something like that.
Check your local ebgames store if they have the ones with gamecube compatibility, pre-owned for $68.

Old white Wii + black spray paint?
I got a second hand Wii from EB about 6 months ago for $50. They tend to be pretty reliable (relative to 360's anyway!) and Gamecube support was essential for me.
Cashconverters have plenty of stock selling at $39 with 3 months warranty
Just picked one up a few hours ago for $29. Greensborough, VIC. They had many left. They also had tons of WiiFit (Stand & game) for $20 each. Heaps of them too.
Kmart has the same package in black at $99 it's been that price for a while :)
If you want gamecube support, get a gaming PC and Dolphin. The games look amazing.
Why would you need a gaming PC? wont a standard pc do the trick?
By gaming PC, I mean a PC that can game (not those thousand-dollar machines some shops sell as "gaming PCs"). basically any old desktop with GPU in it (e.g. $60 HD 6670 or better).
With, say, a 3-year old celeron laptop with integrated graphics, it may not run as smoothly, and/or may not look any better, than on a gamecube.
Some things are way cheaper than they should be. This is one of them.
Fantastic game & bundle.Invest in some AA eneloop rechargeable battery goodness for the controller unless you like buying & tossing out batteries constantly. Nintendo's recommendation of alkaline batteries is stone-age advice best suited to those older type of Ni-MH batteries that used to lose charge (self-discharge) easily in low-use devices. Luckily battery tech has moved on.
http://www.nintendo.com.au/support/index.php?action=help&hel…If you play the Wii with any frequency, rechargeables will pay for themselves in short order.
Instore &/or Online?
I still have two brand new ones, one black and one white, from the DS $99 sales. One I bought as a back up, I have no idea what I'll do with the second one.
Put it in between two slices of bread then do a handstand on it. Put on youtube = profit.
Good for other people to use the extra controllers in multiplayer games.
I wish they would reduce the accessories. I paid $37 for this from DSE, doesn't seem right to pay that or more for a Wii Mote.
Hell I had to pay $69 just for a friggin' motion plus wiimote in 2012 in order to play Skyward Sword.
Majority are still compatible with Wii U, that's why. Though DSE were getting rid of wiimotes that were simply branded 'Wii' for $20 each some months back.
This cannot possibly be a bargain when other sellers (such as kmart) have this same price. I'm under the impression that this is the new standard price for the wii with Mario bundle. Furthermore, as others have stated, DSE had this cheaper many months ago because it was on clearance. If anything, this $99 price level is opportunistic as the unit is really discontinued by Nintendo, or on verge of being so.

Still a bargain to me, even though I bought it at Kmart a little while back (thanks OzBargain).

If so, it isn't very widespread.

To most people, Dick Smith = dire stock. If this is the standard new price, it should be more widespread. Maybe it's becoming more widespread but it isn't quite universal yet; far from it. Still a bargain.

Not sure what you mean by opportunistic. I can't imagine it being discontinued yet. Maybe you are right. But it's still a bargain.
$149 at JB http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/game/wii/nintendo-wii-console…
$148 at HN http://www.harveynorman.com.au/nintendo-wii-console-bundle-w…
So compared those those prices this is a bargain. As far as I am aware DS no longer stock this item.
I remember the days when Mario Kart alone was $100RRP
I remember the days when cotd had it for sale for $199 and everybody went crazy with it:
http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/7373That's like 5 years ago LOL
Does anyone know if some cash coverters sell the controllers and nunchuks on their own?
Yeah, but they are clueless. They are marked at like $60 for crappy second-hand ones. Just get this and sell the console and game (separately) on ebay.
Just an FYI for people, I think the current Wii they sell no longer has GameCube support (officially). But IIRC, you can hack these and run GameCube games from a HDD.
