      seems pretty useful to me, compact Micro USB cable (for charging/data transfer), as well as microSD reader (this part not so much for me, esp if your phone already reads microSD, but perhaps for someone out there)

        Meritline often sell 2 Micro USB data/charging cables for us$1 delivered. Those just do the necessary job (2 out of the 3 features) for 1/4 the price

        I don't think that card reader is for accessing via a phone or tablet. My understanding is that won't work. No power will be applied to the card to read it. (I just tested with cables I have. Didn't read card on phones or tablet.)
        Rather it is for a computer to read via its USB2 (while charging the phone etc).
        Once again you can buy very cheap USB2 card readers for ordinary computers.

        So it is a combined card reader for a computer, with a cable running out of it for a phone etc (that cable counts as 2 features: data transfer AND charging), and a lanyard (piece of cheap cord) attached… for about twice the price of the individual components on special.

        The description is terrible!

        Of course if it is truly a OTG cable, that's a different story used with suitable tablets, but doubt it is.
        Where's the REP to clarify??

      I don't know about $500 phone owners, but I have a $600 phone, and I need to be careful, so I will need to purchase 2 to have some redundancy.

  Since it's micro USB one end and micro SD at the other end, I assume it's an OTG cable? I question data and charging being advertised as 2 functions (most cables should be), but this is marginally handier than carrying 2 cables and about the same price.

    Don't think it will be OTG cable. If it is, I think it would be stated as feature 4.
    Nowhere does it describe its operation. That alone makes me cautious.

    Those two features… data cables charge, but charger only cables lack the data connections, so 1 feature - a data cable.

    OBers often read into deals what they hope is being offered, not what is actually offered.
    Above I described it as probably a standard computer USB2 card reader with a charger/data cable added.

    REP should be able to clarify
    (but probably wont, given their lack of clarity in title & description)

  Not sure about that one, and I know it costs twice as much but I just got one of these and it seems to work pretty well on my galaxy nexus.
