Just saw this at the Dell outlet. I'm holding off for the 24" but this is awesome for the price. 1 year warranty, free delivery.

People who like small screens do.
also people who don't have much room on the table
small people?
Smaller monitors are cheaper, use less desk space and have lower power consumption - so any/all of these reasons.
I'm using 21.5" and it's not that bad.
I use a 21 inch too. I was shopping around for something bigger but not necessarily bank breaking and was looking at 24s but ended up sticking with my 21 because I realized that everything else on the monitor would be even smaller than it already was.
I know that changing DPI settings can help but I also know that some things just don't render properly. Is that still the case now?
21" is very small!?
I'll show my age here:
Back in my day, i had a 12" monochrome monitor for an old pc, a 14" commodore 1084 for my amiga and a 15" svga monitor!
Judging from the responses… no one serious buys a small screen.
I run a 27", 24" and 23" and I think it comes down to a matter of perspective. I just got my 27" and my 24" that I used for 2 years seems a lot smaller than I thought it was :P
This may be useful if someone wants to purchase two and mount them sideways for instance. They're pretty good screens regardless!
Wow, shows my age when I can remember getting a 19" screen and thinking any bigger would be ridiculous :P
It would have been for the 1024 resolution you would have had on it.
The 19" CRT that I bought back in the late 90s did 1600x1200 at 60Hz. Need a solid desk for it though.
I remember the day I got my flat-panel 15" screen (CRT monitor, but flat panel front). I was ecstatic that they could make it flat and so easy on the eyes!
These days, if I say that to someone they will likely respond with, 'CRT? WTF?!'
It'd be good for a second screen - full HD, IPS, fully adjustable stand. Quite excellent for the price.
Tempted even though I don't need it.
Thank you OP! I was actually looking at buying this monitor before it was replaced with the 2214H. The fact I can save $100 for essentially the same monitor is awesome! Here's hoping Patrick from dell can reserve me one. For those wondering who would buy one of these: I have a Samsung 27", and the Dell 21.5 is perfect to use as a secondary monitor in portrait mode. The PPI of the Samsung is 108ppi and the Dell 2212H comes in at 102. So pretty damn close to stop any jarring change in size when going from one monitor to the other.
Awesome! Glad I helped someone :)
I have this monitor, it's pretty great. It also has a DP port so it's probably one of the best value all round monitors if you like the size.
i have this monitor at work - might consider getting one so i can give myself dual monitors - easier than getting IT to give me one and their new monitors are 23" lenovo garbage with low DPI
Hmm, tempting.
I have a Dell U3011 and i've been after a smaller monitor as a 2nd screen just for documents and emails while i work. Now i just need to make sure it will fit on my desk.Well the ppi of your 30" will be around 100, so this being 102 should match it pretty nicely
Choices, choices. Argh! I have a U2412M but thanks to this post, I'm now left wondering whether I should get 1 U2212HM, 2 U2212HMs or another U2412M. I don't really play games and while 2/3 monitors are probably an overkill for normal day-to-day tasks, I'm really after a better development setup. Hmmm.
I'd go for 2 24" monitors myself.
Bought one, thanks op.
Bought 3, thanks heaps OP!
Been waiting for a good price drop on this model, as it's just right for my needs. Also bought 3, thanks OP
Just checked Dell site and nil stock.
Thanks Jake, ordered one today. :)
Did anyone get U2212HM instead of U2212H?
The dell rep said I will be getting a HM and the invoice also states this. I can confirm on Monday.
21" is very small, I think 24" is too small even…
What kind of people use these kind of screen? Serious question.
