    good price indeed.

i never got Tomb Raider when i bought my 7970 though. Only Crysis 3, Bioshock Infinite and Blood Dragon.

Seems like a good price. Can you link static ice for easy comparison if you post again?
    http://www.staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=AMD+HD7970&…

Cheapest on static ice is $399 for similar card, so this definitely looks good!

    • Yep no probs (it's my first post). I did check it but didn't post the link. Cheers :-)

    • +1

That's a bit misleading, if you take out "AMD" you'll find UMart have the same GPU for $369: http://www.staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=HD+7970&spo…

Edit: Actually, the UMart one isn't OC'd, so it's not the same, but still, this should be the static ice link given the previous one excludes some results.

hehe was about to mention that, next closest is $385 umart same model.

        • Ok thanks - changes made.

Good price, mite want to add OC (Over Clocked) to heading, I grabbed myself one.

Was after a new card, the 4 games sealed this deal for me.

  • good price!

  • Damn it!
I bought the Sapphire one only 3 weeks ago for like $40 more :(
And it came with no games. :(((

  • Umart also are apparently out of stock on the game codes. I bought the non OC version from them 3 weeks ago and didn't receive a code but have been assured that more stock is coming but no ETA.

    • +1

I got this card off them last week and no game codes. Did they say you can get them later down the track?

      Cheers,
      Jake

Yeah I emailed and called and both times they confirmed they would definitely be getting more in, just no idea when.

        • Ahh cheers mate I might email them. :)

  • Fantastic price for an almost top-of-the-line GPU.

    Here's some benchmarks:
    http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/770?vs=827

Note how it comes close (and sometimes beats) the performance of the $700 GTX 780.

  • those look like twin frozr coolers, if they are this card will be cool and quiet

  • Are the games worth much? I don't really want them and would buy the card and sell the game codes online.

    • +1

Bioshock Infinite is worth $79.99 USD and Tomb Raider is $49.99 USD on the Steam store. That's $130 just for those 2 games alone and that's just half of the games.

      • +9

You'll have to be a sucker to buy games on Steam at full price! :)

I bought Tomb Raider collection (every TR game released on PC except for Lara Croft & the Guardian of Light) last month in the Steam Summer Sale for $18.65!

    • Unfortunately, you're competing with CD key sites and sales and such, so not as much as retail. Maybe $10-$20 each or so? Check finished listings on ebay.

  • is it better than this deal http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/109809

    • +1

Considering that deal expired last month it's not a valid point. That card you pointed to is now $499 so of course this deal here is better to begin with.

    • +2

That was a better deal with the high clock speed, cheaper and XFX > PowerColour.

      • But you can easily OC this OC and get more performance.
      • Sell the games if you don't want them and come out on top.
      • Sell it on ebay ? Im not really sure if it works

  • Gah, so tempting! I'm still holding out for volcanic islands! Comes out in october.

    Grabbed a card, thanks OP

Got one today, and using it now…
    replacing my 4890!

Nice I did the same upgrade!Great card, good wait, goodstuff!

  • I don't exactly see a bargain?

If you add postage , its pretty close enough?

    http://www.umart.com.au/pro/products_listnew.phtml?id=10&id2…

  • Does anyone know how the codes work? Is it a single code to unlock all the games, or do they all have individual codes

  • A worthy upgrade from 2x 5870's in XFire?

Mainly want to game at 1900x1200 or 2540x1440, FPS stuff or BF3/BF4.

    • I'm in a similar position with 5850s in Crossfire, but I don't think this will be an upgrade; the performance will be pretty similar. I think I'm going to wait for the next generation.

      • Yeah most say it's a side grade just to eliminate Xany XFire issues (not that I have any)!

    • From what I've seen 2540x1440 yes, 1900x1200 no.

I'm basing that on the 2x1GB of RAM you have for the 5870, that CF can have issues, you have greater power draw and heat generated.

I'd suggest you only do this if you are going to get a 2540x1400 monitor, you can sell the 2 cards for at least a reasonable discount off the 7970 and if you don't have the 4 games.

this is a good price, but with the next model GPUs expected in October (ok, it will be the premium card, so it won't be cheap) I figured I'd do a cheap upgrade until the mid-range 9000 series GPUs are available Q4 2013/Q1 2014, so I bought a HIS brand 7870 ( http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&p… ) from PCCasegear on Friday for $229 and it came with the following games:

    •Bioshock Infinite (steam)
    •Tomb Raider (steam)
•Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon (uplay)

I upgraded from an ATI HD6950 (which I sold for $150) and the 7870 offers over 50% improvement (in benchmark figures) for gaming at 1920x1080 resolution. I figured a cheap upgrade to last me 6 months or more until the 9000 series mid-range (affordable) cards are common (and $229 was a cheap present for myself from my tax return). the 7870 is roughly 3/4 the performance (at 1920x1080 resolution) of the 7970.

    http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/770?vs=857

now I'm sure the GPU benchmark police will pick my thread to pieces, but I'm just trying to offer a budget alternative for the gamers who aren't at the top of the GPU pile :) (and still from PC Case Gear).
