  • Do you know if the weight limit is different for the DHL option?

    [edit] Stopped being lazy and looked myself. It says this:

    "DHL Express- International — $8.00
    Usually Takes 2-4 days, with tracking number
    Please don’t use a P.O. (post office) box. Max 150 lbs.
    Extra shipping discount for orders over $60.00!
    Also receive a minimum 5% off your order total if it is over $60.00!
    Estimated Delivery Range: August 12, 2013 - August 14, 2013"

    • Last time,I tested it only allows for 4 pounds for $10(now $8).It used to allow for 7 pounds.

      • You're correct… Once it hits 4lb it gradually starts to increase.

        3.92lb = $8
        4.04lb = $8.71
        5.00lb = $8.71
        5.12lb = $9.61
        6.01lb = $10.42
        6.90lb = $10.42
        7.02lb = $11.27
        8.02lb = $12.07

        Seems like each lb it goes up.

          this is better than vitacost rates
          but i can't find the value in vitamins as vitacost range is well marketed and seems cheaper than most other brands
          so I am stuck with vita
          their freight steps beyond 3lbs are savage

  • nice
    have u guys had any experience with ordering from them?
    prices look quite good

      I've ordered from them several times using the standard DHL option and it has taken about 10-14 days. Good prices and quite often good specials.

        I've been buying from them for years and have found them very reliable. Not as cheap though now that our dollar has weakened.

    • Yes, I've ordered from iherb multiple times without any complaints. I've mostly used standard post delivery (around 20 days for delivery on average). One package was opened by customs with no issue.

      Another site I've used with good results is www.healthdesigns.com. I recall their postage was slightly higher, but the products I ordered were cheaper than iherb.

    Sorry - didn't realise I couldn't post a referral code in the comments. As with previous deals I have created this wiki where we can all add our referral/discount links. Remember sharing is caring (ie dont always use the first link on the page).

    Cheers!

    • Cool, added my code to the wiki

  • Last time I purchased some stuff came to about $11 express shipping - hands down smashes vitacost for shipping costs. Parcel arrived in approx 3 days!

    • Vitacost was ok prior to them introducing their own name branded version of products. Then afterwards the weight of non-Vitacost goods got nudged into the more expensive delivery fees which was the deal breaker for me.

      • i thought freight was the same for all products in vitacost.com

  • Has anybody had any experience buying whey protein from iherb or other US stores - did Australian customs have any issue with importing protein products?

    • +1

      Yeah, I've bought Optimum Nutrition (Gold Standard Whey, Hydro Whey and Casein) from iHerb, Vitacost and Bodybuilding.com with no problems. Unfortuntely iHerb doesn't seem that cheap compared to other stores with the ON products, I haven't compared other brands though.

      • Cool thanks for the info.

        • +1

          I think there may be exceptions with egg protein though. I'm not sure on the details. If you stick to normal whey, you should be fine.

      Iherb appear to restrict sales of anything that isn't allowed through customs. For a while customs were searching all parcels from iherb sent via normal post, but now since iherb won't sell any restricted items they seem to not be searching parcels, which makes delivery much quicker.

    The only time I used DHL express with iherb I had some dog arthritis products confiscated by Aus Customs. Be careful because when you use courier delivery Aus Customs have a closer look at what's in the package and they charge you just for looking. Charged me $40 for looking inside the package. Whey powder is one of the restricted items. Nowadays, I am not even able to add restricted items to my cart. I get this message "At this time, due to regulations, this item is not allowed to be shipped to your region."

    Restricted items are listed below the shipping choices and I've included them below FYI. If your iherb account isn't doing this yet with restricted items, you may be lucky to get restricted stuff through with Global Priority Mail (the cheapest $4 option) but you are risking a hefty fee sending it via DHL Express. Underneath the Restrictions section are Notes about importing products, to be aware of. eg. no refunds from iherb for anything confiscated by customs.

    "Our Australian customers have reported having trouble importing products that are in powdered form. Customs is looking over these products carefully and may add fees".

    Restrictions
    Supplements containing egg yolks, dairy, MSM, DHEA, Melatonin, Xylitol, bee pollen, bee pollen as a powder, banana, Hoodia, Camu Camu powder, and Cordyceps powder are not allowed to be imported into Australia.
    All dairy products are restricted.
    Products with wormwood or hemp oil are restricted.
    Egg products, if the egg albumine in a product is high, are restricted.
    Products with hormones like Pregnenolone, HGH, 7-Keto, and others are restricted.
    Some products with enzymes may be prohibited, so please check with customs before importing.
    Dried beans, lentils and rice require an import permit, and/or may be subjected to quarantine inspection fees.
    Kava requires a special permit when ordered.
    Pet supplements require an import permit.

  • They won't even ship Myofusion ProBiotic Choc-peanut to me (Sydney) =/

    Betancourt D-Stunner (all varieties) is $5 cheaper through Vitacost.

  • I have been diagnosed hypertension after taking sport vitamins and proteins for the last few years. It is good for the body muscles but not good for your heart. Check your Blood pressure… Pika buuu… Dialosic rate will be more than 100.

    • Many things can cause high blood pressure, there's no way you can know it was multivitamins and protein supplements.
