At last, a decent Hotel Sale from Expedia.
How about 64% off Bali Outrigger.

Had a quick look, I think hotel club is cheaper??
I travel a real lot, and I have never been able to find a competitively priced hotel on Expedia - sale or no sale. And that is STILL the case. In my opinion their hotel booking function is a waste of internet space!
Checked two hotels on wotif in Sydney. Exact same price.
example - Mantra 2 Bond Street Sydney. Same same. Not different. Oct 30 Nov 2
I stay away from Wotif whenever possible, I find them to be pretty dodgy. I'm pretty bothered by the way hotels insist on photocopying ID on every stay booked with Wotif, and asked some questions. Turns out that Wotif require the hotel to photocopy ID. One bloke 'proved' to me that my personal info was safe by saying "look, I just put the photocopy here in this folder with all the other photocopies"… sigh…
One hotelier I chatted to told me that the next time I wanted to stay with him, I should check the rate on Wotif, call him directly, and he'd do me a better deal. Turns out that Wotif are double dipping… they charge the guest a fee for booking AND they charge the hotelier a referral fee as well.
So, the trick seems to be to call the hotel and ask them to match the Wotif rate. Since a Wotif booking costs them more, I can't see why they wouldn't AND you get to keep your personal info safe.
This probably also happens with LastMinute.com.au… since… same company. No idea about the other booking mobs, though wouldn't be surprised if they're all doing it.
Great tip! Yep, same ID thing happens with lastminute.com.au
I've done this too - and especially if I'm willing to pay cash/eftpos then they've been happy to do it - it's cash in their hand straight up vs having to wait for wotif to pay up. What's more, they want people in their hotel & are obviously happy to get that amount of money (since they're advertising it on wotif for that anyway).
Only time it didn't work was with a larger group of hotels who said their head office set prices and worked with wotif.
I think hotelscombine is the best bet for cheap hotel prices
Seems cheaptickets.com "cheap20" discount code is still available and working out cheaper than Expedia.
Where do you put the coupon code in? I have gone right through to the last booking page with credit card details etc and still can't see a field?
ignore that, just found it!
No deal agoda is even more cheaper than this %40 off.
EXP - 06/01/2014 Village Hotel Bugis on expedia it cost Au$201 same day same hotel on agoda cost only Au$142
Doesn't Expedia have the price matching thing? They match the price and give you $50 voucher for your next booking. Only downside is you have to call their Philippines/India call-centre, where there's a 1-2 second lag, and the staff can barely understand you.
Yeah - I used that to secured a room at KL International Airport for only $28 after deducting the voucher two weeks ago, though I have not received it.
I find their Philippines call center half decent. Staff were slow but helpful.
https://www.tingo.com not only price matches but also gives price drop refunds with no cancellation fees :)

Tingo $US 58. But Tingo say that they price match. If Tingo do Automatic price drops refunds is it just if their own price drops, or if that of any supplier' price drops?
automatic price drop refunds of their own price

http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/109936#comment-1494830Seems Cheapertickets.com has new code USAVE20 for USA hotels.
All of these are trounced by HOTWIRE. I used it all over USA and saved a fortune esp their 'Secret' hotels which were big name chains.
their secret rates might be cheap but standard ones aren't :(
any from gold coast for next year? I'm going there with the $10 jetstar flight.
