12% Discount at Hotelclub.com Valid for Bookings Upto Dec 31 2013

200
MYGIFT12

Received this is email today, for me its a very good deal, coupled with the rebate (4%-7%) that hotel club pays you back, and the 5% rebate you get from http://www.bucksback.com.au/ scoring a deal is highly likely. For example, Im staying in Perth next weekend, the property Ive just booked, offered 30% off for staying at least 2 nights, got the 12% instant discount, will get a 7% credit into my hotelclub account, and will receive 5% rebate via bucksback.com

I know http://www.ratestogo.com.au/ recently had a 15% code, which I think is still valid, but factoring in the other discounts this portal was cheaper for me. Hope its of value to others. Cheers

  • damn it, booked ratestogo 15% last night… but this will work out better after cashback (8% for work-related scheme I am in)

    • This email could not have come at a better time for me. I was looking to book last night and did all my sums, was almost ready to book with ratestogo, and this email lobs into my inbox this morning!!

      • +1

cancelled the ratestogo and paid $14 more with hotelclub (on $500 worth of accom), but get $41 cashback, + $20 hotelclub rewards.

  • what are the valid travel dates

    • Jskf01, I searched for that info, cant seen to find it anywhere in the T&C's. Enter your dates, use the code, and if it works with your dates, your in luck!

  • Just as an FYI it's only valid for bookings before December 31 this year.

    • Thanks for that. I couldnt find that info anywhere, ill add it to the original post ;)

    • And looks like only for certain hotels…

Terms & Conditions: Book a participating hotel by 11:59pm (US Time) 28 July 2013, for stays between 15 July 2013 and 31 Dec 2013 via HotelClub and instantly receive 12% off your total booking. Limit one discount per hotel room and one promotion code per purchase. Applies to selected hotels only. Discounts are not redeemable for cash for any reason. Promotion codes are non-transferrable and not for resale. HotelClub reserves the right to change the terms and conditions of this Promotion at any time without notification.

Tried it on Marriott and no luck.. Nevertheless, good deal…

  • This is marginally better than the rates to go deal. I'd pay slightly more now but get some more back. I don't think its worth the effort for a few dollars. lol

  • Booking with Best Western Tokyo direct on their website:
    118,800 yen = $1320.

    Through this site:
    $1375
    - $55 HotelClub members rewards
    - $69 Bucksback
    = $1,252.

So i save $70 on a $1320 booking, or 5%. Worth it with all the hassle and having to prepay?

Possible advantage of prepaying is locking in the exchange rate, but obviously that can go against me if the AUD recovers slightly from this low before i go.

    • The exchange rate to get $1320, is todays mid market rates. I highly doubt that is the exchange rate you will be getting from your credit card company. You are at the mercy of your credit card provider when it comes to exchage rate conversions. I suspect the AUD needs to strengthen by about 6-10% against the JPY in order for you to actually get that $1320 AUD rate. I know this because Ive fallen victim to international exchange rates in the past. Silly question- did u remember to apply the 12% off code also? And also remember that $55 member credit is stored as USD value in your hotelClub account, which at the moment hotel club values at about $61 AUD. Good luck!

      • That's true and good point. If we get to 92c then it'll be $1290, i dont think thats unreasonable but then again, it could go the other way.

I will be paying via 28 Degrees so will get a pretty close rate.

Anyway, i've made the booking and paid, either can be cancelled for no penalties so i will see how the exchange rate is looking at the time.

    • Ive just done an identical dummy booking on hotelclub.com and on hotelclub.com/visa

      The results:

      hotelclub.com/visa: $305.92
      normal hotel club : $326.90

Thats not 15% cheaper. It is 6.8% cheaper for a visa cardholder.

      ……BUT

Once entering the MYGIFT12 code to the normal hotelclub.com the price drops to $291.24. That is about $15 cheaper than using the VISA only carholders site.

Also note, there are no provisions on the VISA only version of the site to enter a discount code, you DO NOT earn member credits, nor can you get any cash rebates from sites like bucksback.com

      Hope that clarifies things!

      • Thats not 15% cheaper. It is 6.8% cheaper for a visa cardholder.

15% average - some places such as four seasons sydney are 25% cheaper, hence research :)

        • I spose it pays to play around with it all to see where one scores a better price based on how much time they are willing to invest to find a bargain. In this scenario using the hotel I chose, the VISA only site wasnt up to scratch. But had the price been cheaper, without needing to use promo codes, without needing member benefit rebates and without claiming third party rebates, then yes it would have been a better deal! But thanks for the link, I will def use it in my decision making process for future hotel booking needs.

    • Visa method was not cheaper for my booking (Singapore). If fact wasn't much better than most other sites according to hotelscombined search.

      • I travel to Singapore frequently, hotelclub.com currently has many great specials for Singapore which can be stacked with the 12% discount. Try the M hotel, try the Furama, the Peninsula Excelsior Hotel Singapore and the Rendezvous Grand Hotel Singapore, Ive stayed at all and they are all currently on sale.

The Peninsula Excelsior @ Marina Bay is 50% off atm, plus 12% ontop of that!

        Good luck

        • Unfortunately traveling as a family of 4 which rules out some of those hotels on price or availability of larger rooms…. but thanks for the recommendations anyway.

  • This is heaps cheap…, but the only annoying thing is that when we have 3 or more people mentioned in the booking, it doesn't always including bedding for 3 or more people and we need to find out for every hotel we are interested in, if not we pay extra at the hotel when we arrive…, such as stupid system !

One reason why I hate the HotelClub group of websites inc. ratestogo…

Hotels.com on the other hand only shows hotels compatible with the number of people checking in or adjusts the number of rooms to suit…

    • I did one booking through hotelclub via Bucksback, and it is good price/rebate wise, but I like to specify certain things about room preferences. Hotels.com allows for free text about preferences, hotelclub does not. Damn it!!
