      Hi PissLUR

Thanks for your message, please see below description.

Green shows that tire pressure is normal
Yellow shows that the pressure is down about 5 pounds
Red alerts you that the pressure is down by at least 10 pounds

If any questions, Please let me know.

      • down about 5 pounds

Ozbargain is an Australia site and we use the metric system, not pounds.

        and it's "tyre", not "tire"

IMO it is bad idea to get these tyre pressure indicator caps on your car. When these caps are damaged (most likely at the top clear plastic bit), the tyre will deflate in minutes before you knowing it, and defeat the purpose of "avoid under-inflated tyres".

  • +4

How many PSI is optimum for these?

I've had small cars where 32 PSI is recommended and big cars with low profiles that run 40+ PSI.

So how many PSI would the tyres need for these to be green?

    • +3

      "Installation:
Determine the correct tire pressure for your tires
      Inflate tire to correct pressure
Install this new pressure cap tight
Simply look at the color to know if your tire is low or normal "

the only thing i can think of is that it measures the difference between the original pressure and the current pressure rather than an absolute pressure.

      • What if these are green at 30 PSI and you have low profile tyres that run at 45 PSI, then it wont change to yellow until its 20 PSI under your desired PSI?

The ones you buy at the shops come with options such as 32 PSI, 35 PSI, 38 PSI etc. It would be nice to know what you are paying for.

This is one of the most useless things I have ever seen. There is no standard pressure for car tyres, and the product does not specify the reference pressure that the colours are indicating to. Can't believe people are wasting money on this crap instead of investing in an accurate tyre gauge.

  • If it measures a difference in original pressure then it's fine. If it's calibrated for a default 'normal' pressure then it is useless.

  • I think mattgal is correct. anyway I bought it for $2.63 delivered going to put them on my trailer tyres. two for the boat trailer and two for the other. They tend to sit unused for weeks where I do check the car tyres frequently

  • with all these bright colors I don't think they will last long on my car.I currently use anti-theft valve stems as the previous ones have been stolen 3 times in 6 months.

In the item photos the cap is labelled 2.4bar (34.8psi). So perhaps that's the magic number that the item compares pressure to.

    • very observant

      • pretty sure the pic where one is actually fitted to a tyre says 2.0?

    • Yes, but in the last photo, it shows 2.0, assuming that is bar, that only equates to about 29psi.

I have a set of these on my motorbike because it sits for ages and i want to see at a glance if i need to pump up before i go or if i can do it at the fuel station.

These are just spring operated, no fancy "install them at the pressure you want and it will tell you if it changes." magic going on htere. We also run a bigger version on all of out trucks at work (they also do over pressure warnings as well for loaded trucks)

So, I would like another set, but can i define what i want or do i just get some random settings?? Not worth the $2.80 if you are going to get random plug caps.

Pretty red and green colours… will attract bogans to your car for sure… :-(

    • Need some pretty red and blue ones to scare the bogans away..
