These offers tend to be recipient specific.

  • How often do you shop at Coles? I'd assume not very often given the value of the offer.

    And is it worth getting?

Assuming a 50l purchase, you have to spend $30 more than the current 16c/l offer. .40-.16=.24 * 50l = a $12 saving. So if you were going to spend $100 to get a 16l voucher, then spending another $30 looks like a good deal for you.

  • Nice, but can they be stacked if having multiple vouchers, 8c and 16c?

    • You can only use one at a time.

  • This all varies depending on your past spending pattern.

My mother - with a lower spend gets 20c off on $50 25c off on $60 and 30c on $70 or more.

    • A friend of mine got an offer for 500 points for spending $50 this weekend. They were annoyed because they could have saved a lot more if they'd got an offer of 20 cents off per litre for spending the same $50, like the one you've mentioned above.

  • My offer was $70 for 20c off, $80 for 25c off and $90 for 30c off.

  • Mine was $80 for 16c, $90 for 18c and $100 for 20c.

  • Just winders if theres even $1 per litre off for the high rollers!!? :)

  • Anything stopping you from buying a $130 gift card to use within Coles/Coles Express - getting the receipt and using the gift card on petrol??

The terms and conditions stop you.
"Purchases of gift cards, tobacco and tobacco related products do not contribute to qualifying spend."

  • Where did you find out what the offer was? And is it a Fly Buys thing?

    • I believe the original post is a flybuys targeted offer. Each member targeted was sent an offer suited to their usual spending pattern. It's likely that the lower offer was just above their normal spend and the high point of the offer was trying to offer an incentive for the member to spend more during the offer period.

      • I feel left out! I got nothing from coles/flybuys this week ;(((( Woolworths did send me a spend $200 save 45cpl on fuel voucher though.

  • And here is woolworth's response to the coles promo

Here's a whopping fuel saving for being a Member.
SPEND $120 IN ONE SHOP & SAVE 40c PER LITRE ON FUEL

  • Best way to make use of this deal comes in two flavours (assuming you purchase enough to get the discount):

    1. Get people to drive every vehicle at your household to the servo and fill all on the one pump without hanging up (beware, I think there's a 150L limit on discounts). This will work for my fiancee and I if we both need to fill our cars

    2. Find as many jerry cans as you can (look around OzBargain, surely there's something) and fill them all (once again, 150L limit) and make the most of the discount. Should last ~3 fills give or take depending on vehicle.

Using a 20-40c/L discount on my vehicle only filling 3/4 tank (~40 L) means I save a few $$$ but not really make the most of the discount. Jerry cans FTW!

    • is that (idea 1) allowed? sounds like a great idea, lol, its hard to fill up more than 50L usually given a 60L tank.

      • No its not allowed.

1 voucher per car. Now you might get lucky but they are mainly alert to this.

Plus it's sort of dangerous. (Not the reason for it not being allowed)

        • dangerous? how so?

        • You are having to hold onto a petrol pump while its active and inserting it into a new car, and there can be some static electricity when you do so.

One increased danger is if someone accidentally presses the nozzle when holding it while they move to the next car.

You may notice that often there is a delay in pumps being activated which gives time for the nozzle to be inserted before you can start filling up. This means if there is any static electricity this is grounded off before fuel starts to flow.

Likewise when filling cans, they recommend that the can be on the ground, again for static electricity discharge.

Yep static electricity is not likely but it does happen, so when you do something to increase the risks that's not wise. You are dealing with flammable liquid.

      • Yes it is allowed. I have done it 3x already

        • No its NOT - from Coles express website

          • One fuel type for one vehicle (including *approved containers or boat or motorcycles on an attached trailer) up to a maximum of 150 litres; or
          • Two fuel types for one vehicle up to a maximum of 150 litres; or

But as I said, you may get lucky and the attendant doesnt know, or doesnt care.

  • We've just received email offering 30c off for $70.00 spent - so are going shopping tonight. Thought I might buy some wish cards too - as for $100.00 you pay $95.00 which automatically gives a $5.00 discount from your shopping total. Unfortunately buying the wish cards will not contribute to the spenditure for the fuel voucher. Also has anyone received their credit card offers? i.e. the one with no annual fee but combines your flybuys with bonuses on points? Would like to hear your thoughts. Also want to hear more about Woollies now offering 40c p/l as we have not heard about it from them yet.

    • The 40 cent fuel vouchers from Everyday Rewards were targeted offers sent to selected Woolies shoppers.

    • I received a spend $200 get 45c per litre discount. But nothing from Coles, which is strange, I been getting coles/flybuys emails every week

  • someone want to scan and upload a voucher or arse these single use

    • I know there is a clever joke to be made here but I can't think of what it is…

    • You want voucher?

Here it is… until next Wednesday

Stocking up opportunity to insulate yourself 3 weeks - 4 weeks of high petrol price.

    • I did that yesterday and Ozbargain pulled it down within 5 or 6 minutes- about 150 people clicked it though.

  • All Bargainers,
Let me share with you my Coles fuel habits and savings I made using 14,16 ,18 & 20C fuel coupons

    Date Litres Price Discount
    30/04/2013 150 124.9 16C discount Coles Abbotsford Hoddle Street
    18/05/2013 150 126.9 8C discount Coles Warrigal Rd
    2/06/2013 77 129.9 4C discount Coles Mickleham road
    6/06/2013 150 129.9 14C Coles Warrigal Rd
    20/06/2013 140 139.9 18C Coles Warrigal Rd
    12/07/2013 137 139.9 20C Coles Warrigal Rd

I pump my 3 cars at one go with capacities of 55l, 70l, 70l, and 4 jerry cans, 5,20,20,20 litres to supplement my fuel for the enxt 3-4 weeks. I pump most of the time the full alloted 150 litres and save up to 150 litres * 20C = $30 AUD savings each pump cycle.

Quite a treat to see the savings in hand. I usually get the pump attendants to allow me to pump without disruption as the fuel pumped must be in one receipt before the discount is applied to the fuel total pumped.

Another thing is to get 10C added on with your fuel savings with flybys by spending 1000 points on the additional 10C on top of the earned discount coupon of 18C etc.

  • Coles Gift cards are only for Coles supermarkets not Coles Express Fuel purchases. Woolsworths gift cards on the other hand allow you to buy fuel with them. See COles is quite shrewd in the use of their gift cards for groceries from their Smarkets.

  • Wait around for specials on your purchase of Jerry cans which I bought for 20l @ $9.99 from Autobahn. $26 for Supercheap auto 20L and get 5L jerry free. And another 20L Jerry Can from Repco was given to me by a friend who went interstate. Make sure you don't spill fuel into one car when driving back to your home, the fuel stank in my
car for 2 months before it was gone. My fuel savings have been returned many over since I started this practice of pumping fuel with coles coupons now for more than 3 years now. Snap up your jerry cans because fuel prices are now so high, the justify stocking up on fuel safely in your garage to be used over 3-4 weeks per fuel price cycle.
Act smart save $$$ and take extra safety precautions as well.

  • Just to add my 5 cents:

Once me and the missus went to a Caltex (Woolies) petrol station and filled both car up at different pumps. When finished I just walked up to counter to pay for it and asked to pay for both. I handed over my voucher (it was a 8 cent per litre one from woolies) and the lady behind the counter gave me the discount for both cars combined.

Technically that is not allowed per Terms ans Conditions, but it looks like its up to the employee at the petrol station.

Mind you this was about a year ago.

    Cheers,
    bmett

  • Any idea if you purchased stuff, and refunded most of it just to keep the receipt, is the fuel voucher still valid? Or it becomes deactivate? I highly doubt Coles has this kind of system tho.

    • If you rip the petrol discount bit off before you refund they can't do nothing about it

  • I just took it 2 a Coles Express store and it didn't work??! The attendant looked really suspicious of me an asked where I got the docket. He even asked 4 my details… which I obviously didn't give…

  • Are you referring to the voucher that was posted on here for 26 cents that seems to have been removed or inaccessible ? I would have liked a copy of this for our long drive next week, but if it didn't work anyway…
