Are they revolutionary?
Will they come out at super high prices?
Cheers :-)They are not revolutionary. Actually only as fast or may be even a bit slower than the current generation but much better battery life. No they don't come at super high prices, often at the RRP of the previous generation but you might not see the level of discounting that the Ivy Bridge is seeing now.
Or hold out for even greater discounts once haswells hit the shelves you'd think. I wonder how many IB units are sitting out there that need to be sold?!
Haswell is the way to go for battery life, and everyone realises battery life is king in the mobile world these days..
I think the latest sony is much better value. carbon fibre and all very very light
The Sony looks nice, but with a maximum of 4GB RAM, it's a bit too low for me. The Dell and Toshibas now come with 8GB RAM, a much more acceptable amount.
Lenovo is also better value. Carbon i7 can be got for $1500 on special.
This Dell has a better screen and SSD, though.
Appears to me as a good deal…
I'm in the market for something exactly like this.
Should I bite the bullet on this?
Thanks :-)I have the older generation. It's a great laptop.
awesome thank you! :)
wow nice!
Good price considering it has a 512gb SSD, which I presume would be the msata variety!
If I just do Internet Marketing sort of stuff, will the Integrated Graphics be enough to do things in Photoshop etc?
Cheers
Photoshop should be fine, it's running 8GB RAM. It's why I won't consider the Sonys and others with only 4GB
wasn't this cheaper during EOFY?
XPS 13 Ultrabook $1,189
and you could have bought the Beefier XPS 15 cheaper then too. XPS 15 Laptop $1,379 (Core i7-3632QM, 8GB, 1TB+32GB SSD, 15.6" FHD, GeForce GT 640m, BD-ROM)
EOFY was i5 from memory and only 128GB SSD.
And if you're buying a lightweight 13" ultrabook, you're not really looking at something bigger and twice the weight IMHO
It was i7 too, but yes a smaller SSD.
They keep changing the specs on the sale ones I can never keep up. SSD prices ramp up when you get to 512GB…. I'd rather a smaller one and just run an external drive via USB3 :)
Could anyone please share some advice about how to run 2x 22" External monitors off of a laptop.
This laptop only has one video output.
Do I need a laptop with two dedicated video output ports? Such as: 1x VGA out and 1x HDMI out?
Is that the most common solution?I want to run:
* 2x 22" LCDs
* dont care if laptop screen is on or not - i dont need 3 screens. Thanks for any help :)
You answered your own quesion. 1xHDMI and 1 x VGA or DVI. If you're not using the laptop screen, but the best specced laptop you can with a shitty screen :)
Is the screen TN or IPS? Won't accept a TN screen for this price.
Is it possible to downgrade to Win7? Do they make the drivers available?
IPS, the XPS13 is regarded as having one of the top screens around.
If you wan Win7, you can try going to the Dell Site, and choosing "For Work" and it will list a Win7 version (well it did a few weeks back).
I'm still getting my head around this stuff but wouldn't have thought this a good deal compared to some of these?
