Annual Worldwide Travel Insurance $366.60 (with 6% off Code) 2 Adults + Free Kids

320
TIDTHANKS

Hi

Just been on the search for a Annual Travel Insurance and came across this little gem. Previously I have been with webjet as they have a $400 policy, but it only covers the basics.

This appears to have a more broad cover and was $399, but with the coupon was $366.60.

Its for Worldwide Inc Snowsports & America (always special)

This code has been posted before http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/22039 but that was over 3 years ago and appears to be still valid so I thought best that it could do with a refresh

Enjoy

Of course you can look to see if you get free coverage with your cedit card when you purchase tickets accomodation etc which covers family.
However if you are travelling a lot then maybe a purchased "annual policy" makes life easier.

Which ever one you choose, make sure it includes medivac, as thats the item that will send you broke if you need to use it.

Nah you can get Medivac free on YouTube…

Quality TV from the 90's :)

      • Did you actually watch that? :)

Only on the days when I could not get my fix of Shortland Street from NZ…. ;)

Shame it is max 38 days..

    What constitutes business?

It also gives a discount off other policies, between 5 - 6 % it seems.

    • What constitutes business?

Oh it doesn't matter , You can always say you were scouting for new business even if you didn't have any deals lined up . or you were doing a market study.

  • I can't purchase an annual policy through that page starting any further in advance than 9 August this year… I was wanting my policy to start later in the year.

They have been running these codes for ages, and I doubt they will stop… just Google for a code nearer the time. The code 'TIDSAVE' also works for the same amount.

  • I've been with them for the last 6 years (annual policy) and every year I check other annual policies just to find them the cheapest. Have claimed once and had absolutely no problems with the claim - recommend them.
If you are travelling more than 38 days you can just take the remaining days as a separate policy (and still use the tidsave code - or other codes that often pop up), that's what we did for a 45 day trip recently.

I have always gone with www.insureandgo.com.au, month trips are about $90, yearly is about $250, maybe its not for you but give it a try

    • Have you claimed from them before? I'm looking for some insurance for a short US trip at the end of the year. I usually use TID myself, but only had to claim once. It was an easy claim, but it was for a damaged item rather than something more serious like delayed flights or medical emergencies.

Note that's a 'per person' price - one of the great things about travelinsurance direct is that they cover the whole family for the one price. They even cover the husband & wife if they're travelling separately (that's new).

    • Got a promo code for insureandgo ? - 1 trip to USA is cheaper than TID, even without a code.

  • Also the option for domestic travel of using the travel and car hire etc insurance included in ANZ Extras Package account for $18 per month, also includes home emergency cover and roadside assistance and a buch of other stuff.

  • Do you get to pick the ages and gender for the free kids?

  • I'm going on a trip to Vietnam and riding motorbikes. can anyone recommend a policy that covers them?

    • I went on a trip to Vietnam where we spent 6 days on the back of motorbikes in the central highlands.

CGU covers this scenario. The condition is that the driver must have a proper license. We were passengers and were covered.

I suspect to be fully insured you will need to get a Vietnamese license. A few USD can help if you know what I mean.

      • From what I understand from the PDSes I've read, you're covered as long as you're riding the motorcycle legally - you don't actually need a local licence (how impractical would that be!).

It's like renting a car - you can legally drive in most countries on your aussie licence.

        • Unless things have recently changed, which they may well have, Vietnam never used to legally acknowledge either foreign driving permits OR the International Driving permit and you actually were supposed to register for and get a local license.

        • Ahh, in that case one wouldn't be covered. Unless things have changed recently. :)

        • Process and requirements to get one in 2009:

    • Good luck and be careful. Friend did that (motor scooter - far more dangerous) and her inexperienced companion had a fall, got nasty gravel rash which became infected in the tropical conditions. They met a bloke who'd done something similar and was in such bad condition that he had to return to UK.

Might be worth getting a Platinum Visa Card with a bank/financial institution that includes travel insurance. I got one through work with the annual fee waived, but even with the annual fee I think its usually $250. Plus it can include domestic inconvenience travel, exended warranties, 90 days loss/damage cover on goods, etc

  • I'll be going to Thailand for about two weeks. I'll be in patong and koh samui. Who is the best insurance to go with if something happens and will I be covered for both patong and koh samui in the one insurance?

    • Last time I went to Thailand for two weeks I went with Allianz.

Was very cheap, we actually needed to make a claim and it was easy and hassle free. Just select Asia as the region for insurance and you will be covered anywhere in Asia.

  • ANZ Platinum visa, $99 annual, first year fee waived. Covers whole family when travel is purchased on card. Just did UK France Singapore. So much easier not having to worry about purchasing travel insurance.

    • I have been relying on my $0-annual-fee platinum card from Bankwest for years, but I am starting to worry about the conditions. What constitutes "purchase of travel"? If you take a train overseas which you did not pay with your creditcard, are you covered? I fired some questions towards Zurich but could not get an answer more clear than references to their policy booklet.

      • This is for ANZ Platinum, also underwritten by Zurich.
To meet the eligibility criteria, you must:
        (a) be a current platinum cardholder at the date of any
        claimable event; and
        (b) be eighty (80) years of age or under; and
        (c) be a permanent resident of Australia; and
        (d) have purchased with your platinum card account a
minimum of $250 (inclusive of taxes and other charges)
of your pre-booked transport costs (airfares and/or
cruise) and/or land content (tours, hire cars or other hired
transport and accommodation) prior to the
commencement of your trip. The payment must be
debited to your platinum card account prior to your
        departure from Australia.; and
        (e) hold a ticket to return you to Australia.

AND!!! Covers the collision damage excess on car rental. Paid for itself through the savings in rental cost.

These cardholders, become eligible for this International travel insurance when, before leaving Australia on an overseas journey, they have a return overseas travel ticket, and A$500 of their pre-paid travel costs (i.e. travel costs paid for prior to leaving Australia { e.g. cost of their return overseas travel ticket; and/or airport/departure taxes; and/ or their prepaid overseas accommodation/travel; and/or any other of their prepaid overseas itinerary items}) have been paid for by one or a combination of the following payment methods:

        • Thanks for that. The Zurich rep pointed me to the more confusing part of the brochure, so I did not see that paragraph. That clears it up a lot. I kept thinking that whatever travel I took had to paid for by the creditcard.

  • Woolies also do a similar product. $350 I paid last year, includes Iphone and Ipads and you dont need to specify.

  • I've used TID before, though luckily never had to claim.

I'm looking for travel insurance, but policies these days seem to not cover some of the things you are likely to claim. Such as costs of replacement tickets if you miss a connection due to delays not caused by you, or for a cancelled flight.

TID, InsureandGo, and Woolworths does not seem to offer coverage for these risks.

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

  • If you don't want to take the excellent ANZ Platinum credit card option, try Southern Cross Travel Insurance.

  • I use the free bankwest zero gold mastercard for this. Claimed once, was seemless
