  • Does anyone own one of these tablets? Reading various reviews and some mention great build quality but others are saying the build quality is terrible. Obviously you get what you pay for but would love to hear the thoughts of someone from OzB who owns one

    Thanks!

Two people at work have one. The ME400C's build quality is fine. It's not solid like a Xoom or ipad, but it isn't crappy like a generic chinese tablet either.

I've got the Thinkpad Tablet 2 myself. It feels a little bit more solid, but not by a huge amount.

    • We bought one. Regretting it. Screen isn't Gorilla glass and it broke for no apparent reason within a week. As a tablet, seems a lot less robust than an iPad. As a Windows device, its a worry - no way to make Windows recovery disks.

dunno what happened to yours, but the two people at work definitely have had no problems with durability so far. Their screen is perfectly intact. They've had it for about three months.

As a productivity device, it's awesome. Being able to run MS Office and the full Dropbox client in the background makes it more useful than an ipad or android tablet for that sort of use.

  • Maybe do a search on the whirlpool forumns

    • Didn't think of checking Whirlpool. Thanks!

  • could try price match with officeworks.
not 100% if its the same model though http://www.officeworks.com.au/retail/products/Technology/Com…

it states SYME400C1B under the name of the product but this is always some form of reference for OW.

    • Can confirm it's the same and both are Vivotab Smart. Vivotab is 11.6" tablet whereas Vivotab Smart is 10.1".
Smart is not so smart as it doesn't come with TranSleeve and also doesn't take digitizer input.

OW are a bit tricky in that the model number they list down can be slightly different to everyone else's model numbers. They do that so you can't price match because they won't be 100% the same, even though the item is 100% identical.

  • Waiting for price drop on Acer iconia w510

    • The w510 is great tablet IMO. Price matched JB a while back at OW and got it around $360. Absolute bargain and feels better built than Samsung ativ that I also got for work

      • I despise the ativ, seriously that glossy plastic back makes me cringe everytime. Do you use the keyboard with the w510? I'm thinking of getting a convertible, at $598 the HP Envy x2 one was pretty tempting (build quality seems top notch too).

        • We didnt get the acer keyboard with the w510 - if I could have got it for a reasonable price probably would have it - ended up getting the MS Wedge. The reviews I have read for acer keyboard say that the keys are a bit clunky. The HP envy seems to feel great compared to Ativ and I believe there is additional battery in the keyboard. I did read somewhere that the HP has some reported problems with keys sticking or not responding.

  • So is the back side of this white or black?
