  • Did anyone try this?
    What's the catch ?

    • All i can see is you have to give your credit card and if you dont call them to cancel after 30 days they start to charge you

  • Some threads on whirlpool about this:
    http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum/?action=threads_search&…

Seems legit and not a hassle to cancel before the trial period ends.

  • And they accept Paypal…sweet

  • Some of the more recent popular DVDs are classed as Premium service - only available to paying subscribers. Of course the first DVD I chose on the free trial was a Premium. But 10 DVDs + 2 movies all free in a month is good.

  • blu ray probably not included?

what is their premium dvd collection? everthing under "new"?

  • i've just signed up for the 10 dvd trial (2 free tickets not included - old promo), i hope it wont be a hassle to cancel!

  • To hire the Blu-Rays you need to be a paying member. But you can still hire HD-DVD's on the trial.
We use Quickflix and have about 30 Blu-rays and HD-DVD's ripped to our PC HDD to watch at a later time.
And we regularly pause our Quickflix account online when we want a break.
Also, after the trial… The $20 a month 8 DVD's plan is the best value. Works out to be only $2.50 per DVD.

  • should be current as it was in this weeks sunday herald run

  • Do they automatically send the hoyts tickets out.. ? There was no mention of it in the emails they sent.

  • I have done this before, its quite easy to cancel, you used to be able to do it online but now just phone them and make up some reason why you cant afford it etc and they cancel it.

Their service used to be a lot better, ie send a movie back and another is mailed the same day to you and it arrives the next day, it doesnt usually work like that now. It also seems like a lot of the good dvds have a long wait time. MBC at one stage at a cashback deal for them too but i dont think anymore

  • I signed up when the moonlight cinema tickets deal were on, it was a good service and easy to cancel. During my trial they cancelled the "pre-returned" function for trial members, otherwise it was an excellent trial service.

The moonlight cinema tickets were sent separately about a week after the DVDs were received.

  • so what movies are we allowed to get during the 30 day trial period?

  • Just signed up for this, thanks for heads up. I've seen a few Quickflix trials around before, thought they were kinda scammy, but Hoyt's tickets this time, and in SMH…might as well. XD

bargs12: Basically, you can't get BluRay or new releases. There are a lot of other DVDs available. If you want to check the status of something, you could try commenting and I'll see if I can search..-wry- But just cos it's available doesn't guarantee you'll get it out of a queue of 20+..which is probably the recommended number.

  • Does anyone know how the hoyts tickets are retrieved after signing up to the trial?

  • It says they'll be sent a week or so after you've signed up and placed DVDs in your queue.

I'm excited! Just got an email that said my first three DVDs were sent out from Quickflix Sydney (where I am)…hope they'll get in soon. ^^

  • Got my first three DVDs just two days after I signed up. Very happy with the speed. But yeah, I think quite a few of my queue has reverted to 'Short Wait' when they were originally available..:(

    • me too. Sign up on 16/3 afternoon, DVD posted on 17/3 and arrive 18/3.

  • I subscribed about 9 days ago and received an email saying "You are on Value hunter 30 day free trial on 3 DVDs out, 10 per month cap which will rollover to the plan of your choice on 17/04/2009.", suddenly today I received an email to let me know I have been billed $26, and when I complained they said another person in my household already had the free trial so they just billed me automatically. =( I haven't even started watching the dvds yet, and haven't had the chance to downgrade my plan to a cheaper plan.

  • Jamroro: I'm sorry to hear that, sounds like something went wrong. :S If that was the case, they should have told you from the start. Try calling them up?

I've had 4 sent, one on the way from Perth (rest were from Sydney) — happy with response so far. :) Gonna bug again regarding the Hoyts tickets. :D Edit: Received them in the mail! \o/

For those who missed this one, there's also the 2TicketsToKnowing+8DVD deal. Can't find link at the moment, need to rush for class, but should be on SMH's site.

  • i havent recived the hoyts ticket yet…….

  • cooldudechand: The last email I sent (on 27th, before I got home and found them), they said they sent out the first batch on the 26th. When did you sign up? Perhaps try emailing them? You might get 7 like someone got, heh..XD
