"Ask" generally means no stock, but possibly available from their supplier. I re-iterate, possibly.

In any case, virtually the same price as everywhere else: http://staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=lenovo+sl500&sp…

    Not a bargain.

These have it for $1099 too, a good price still. http://www.instantpcshop.com.au/pcshop/446/index.php?categor… .

You may wish to look at the detail of the others that come up from staticice.. and then filter out the P8400 versions from the list and see how much is left. The numerous others that come up use the the cheaper less battery efficient T5650 CPUs versions (667Mhz FSB, 35W TDP). So a P8400 (1066Mhz FSB, 25W TDP), at this pricepoint is a bargain.

      • Yeah, MSY has is for $1099 too.

Like I said, around the same price as everyone else, especially if you factor in delivery. I don't consider 5% a bargain.

        • Like I said.. it's the cheapest P8400 unit on the staticeice list. http://www.staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=P8400+SL500… (MSY at $999 is a mistake.. they're $1099). Also comparatively against other vendors, it has nv9300 graphics. So from both perspectives, it represents a very good deal.

          • @ruraro: The MSY version (SL500 27466LM) is Intel X4500 only.

            You've sold me. Removing negative.

Although considering it's a special offer while stocks last with no stock listed, I'm guessing someone who tries to buy it will probably report back and vote it down.

  • Hey ruraro.
It seems that your in the market for a sub $1500 lappy.
    Have you bought anything recently?
If so, which model did you choose?

I have my Dell 9400 "desktop replacement" but am looking for something more portable with a much bigger HDD.
Been looking at anything from netbooks, tablet pcs, to anything around 2kgs.
I’m enjoying all your laptop posts.
Keep up the good work, mate.

    • Waiting for another super EPP special by Lenovo on the X200/X200s ultraportable. I consider it a super duper netbook. They were (scoff) $1106 and $1266 b/w at during certian times b/w Xmas and end-of-feb. Unbelievable. Centrino2 supports hybrid graphics, something these beasties need to give them some game playing pizzazz.. so I'm also seeing what is hitting the market. 12.1" with ATI 46xx\X4500 hybrid would be excellet. ATM like the 13.3" LG XNOTE P310.. but they're not in OZ.

  • Bought it last year during $150 cash back offer for Officework only. Similar price before cashback.

    Great laptop.
