  • good price if you can't wait, season 8 is due out on DVD/Blu towards the end of the year

Side note season 9 starts on tv in the US in a few months, I personally can't see them extending it beyond that but who knows, I'm holding off til it's fully finished before I pick up a box set

Ditto on the holding out. I bought the first four seasons on DVD then BD and have stopped watching as of S7 (I think? After the end of the big bad bitey faced Purgatory dude that looked like Ted from Better Off Ted). It really ran out of steam after the first couple of seasons and has only been held my attention with the comedic episodes ever since. I mean damn, how many times can you leads die and be brought back? It makes Buffy look restrained.

That said, < $13/season on BD? Good value.

season 8 was hit and miss for me, some good episodes, some not so good, to be honest if it wasn't for the super sexy Dean and sexy Sam I would have lost interest by now … in saying that season 8 didn't have the usual ending and I'm wanting to watch season 9 to see what happens next

I am a heterosexual male. I am comfortable with the idea of being homosexual, even though I'd put myself as a 0 on the Kinsey Scale.

Dean and Sam are sexy as all getout.

Side note: so is Jason Mamoa.

OK, maybe I'm a 1 on the Kinsey Scale.

        • +1

          nothing wrong with that lol

I'm female, the cast, Impala and AC/DC in the first episode and I was hooked!

          What about Castiel!?

        • Ohhh yeah, Castiel <3 lol

  • May sound sexist, but as soon as a female producer / director was appointed it went downhill because they totally misinterpreted the brothers. What I was finding was they had Sam i scenes without his shirt off whenever they could and Dean into the shell of the character he once was. I understand fan service but it was at the expense of the show.

They should of ended with season six even though there's some amusing episodes after. It's like a lot of other US tv shows that try to flog a dead horse. But I won't detract from others who enjoy it still.

    • Yeah, that sounds pretty sexist. 'cause it's rare a show loses it's creator/lead writer and doesn't lose it's spark, and it's weird you went straight to blaming the new lead's gender.

      • I just saw the correlation and I was trying to work out what was wrong with season 7 onward. For 6 seasons I didn't remember any blatant objectification of the leads and as soon as season 7 aired they had Dean and Sam shirtless and generally posing. I get it, it's CW and it caters to a certain demographic. Heck, they even do it with Arrow which is quite popular too.

And new lead's gender? I was actually talking about how they handled the male leads. That was handled with the producer's imprint which was very different to previous seasons. If they decided to put a female in the regular cast, that's great. Back when Bella was a foil to Dean it was a interesting dynamic.

I do apologize if I offended. Merely an opinion, but if you still enjoy the series more power to you.

        • When I said "new lead" I meant "new lead writer". It was implied as I'd just mentioned the old lead writer earlier in the sentence.

Offended doesn't really have anything to do with whether it's sexist or not to come to the conclusion that the gender of the lead writer is the cause for a problem and if a new lead male writer wouldn't have just been great.
