I went to shop for the dual boiler BES900 and almost bought this one. It has very good reviews. It is more than half the price of a BES900.

This machine incorporates a grinder. I bought the bes900 and asked them to throw in the smart grinder for $1199. This is $100 more than the lowest price listed in ozbargain but a decent price.
The problem with integrated grinders is the coffee bean sits too close to the heat and humidity
Spend a bit more for a Rancilio Silvia. More rewarding and durable.
I have owned this machine for over 3 years and I can't fault it. The beans would only get to warm if you leave the machine on for hours. Under normal use it isn't an issue. Having it integrated for me is ideal as I don't have a huge kitchen plus also it just looks neater :)
The internals (pump, boilers etc) are European anyway according to the reviews I read so why not support a local company IMHO.
I paid just under this for one from the Breville outlet and was new but boxed damaged but for new this is a good price.
LOL i have the exact same story as you bolton. Got it from the breville outlet as well! Its quite a good machine however the 15 bar pump weaker than a commercial one. Its been 4 years for me and its still going strong with no problems at all.
You can make quite a smooth foam but I've found that it only has enough pressure to make enough QUALITY foam for one person at a time. Has anyone else found the same?
I've had one of these of about 2 years and it's great. Easy to clean, really consistent coffee. Choice.com.au also gave it a top rating.
I've been holding out for another bes900 + grinder sale but now I'm starting to think this might be worth taking the plunge…
Keep holding out.. I had the above machine.. it's a solid performer..
But the Dual Boiler is supreme.. I bought one 4 months ago and it's the best coffee i've ever had.. Lots of tweaking, but once you have it dialed in it's amazing
Care to share your setting to start me off?
thanks, i will
What is the best temperature set? I assume it is 93 degrees. Do you use pre-infusion as I have heard it is a bit of a gimmick. I have learnt a lot from youtube but I am waiting for my machine as HN ran out of stock.
The grinder is what requires most of the tweaking.. And make sure you get fresh roasted beans.. I order barista blend from mycuppa.. Also grab some measured shot glasses from eBay.. And don't bother with the single shot basket.. If you're in Melb I can help more
Thanks. I will see how i go.
If you need it delivered its $479 + 15 delivery (Sydney)

We had one and had a few problems.
Hopefully a bad item, but we have refunded and got the now current model BES870.
Fingers crossed.
No PID on this unit fyi.
Just noticed there is a new model BES870… Apparently the grinder is much better in the new machine..
Any deals on the smart grinder?
