Just bought myself 2 of these. Really good deal. I also found that VA is having very similar prices during the February period also.
Be mindful that it is the rainy season during that time, however, I have been during jan/feb twice before and it wasn't too bad. You spend all day in a resort anyway.

As the OP suggests VA are actually cheaper. Got $324 return from Melbourne on Virgin for the same period. Leaving on a Thursday and returning on Sunday week
do virgin still make you pay for luggage/drinks etc.. though?
Last time i flew them, Fiji were a full service airline

$20 dollar credit charge per person on the virgin website. Does anyone know a way around it?

I also booked with Kayak. $305.50 return with Virgin.
Was going through the booking process with Virgin, and the price was $333. Plus insurance was $19 with Kayak (through Alliance), and was $65 with Virgin.
Was able to choose seats with Virgin directly though, it was still $45 per flight for extra leg room, but could choose a seat behind the extra leg room seats, hoping that they would be less inclined to recline.
Looked at Fiji Airways, but the flight times were not as convenient (late arvo arrival, pretty early depart).

just booked with virgin leaving mel on feb 20 returning on feb 25 for $309 return with four of us going. Luggage was included. Paid from my bank account to avoid the $20 credit card fee.

Wasn't aware there was a $20 CC fee, there wasn't one with Kayak.
Luggage is always included on international flights, isn't it?
