    why not just use eTax

    • absolutely. this ad is for those who believe the rubbish advertised by the big franchised tax agents that tax is too hard. if your matters are simple (a job, some deductions, maybe wife n kids) then etax all the way.
go to ato.gov.au - its free - but dont google etax, cos youll get a tax agent of that name.

      • In the case of single group certificate returns, using eTax you are doing exactly the same as you would when you go to a tax agent, answering the same questions, except it's free.

The strangest are the online agents that get you to answer questions online - I can't believe people pay to do that, they're doing all the work themselves anyway.

*For rental properties, capital gains, foreign income and business income, a $50 surcharge will apply.

    A hidden fee indeed.

    • Exactly. As eastern culture said, if your tax report is not complicated, use eTax

  • Get You the Maximum Tax Return this Year!

    depends how good they are…

    • -$700 might stil be the maxiumum you're entitled to. If they can get your maximum entitlement, then you can't ask for much more. (unless you were to ask for more)

  • •Plus the cost of your Scoopon is fully tax-deductible in next year’s tax return!

    This statement is actually wrong

it's tax-deductable in the year that you incur the cost…

you would lodge the tax return after the fiscal year is finished i.e you lodge 2012-2013 tax return in 2013-2014 fiscal year. so "next year" i.e 2014-2015 you can claim the cost of managing tax affairs as deductible.

      • I think what JV meant is that it's a deduction pertaining to that year. The statement could have been worded a little better

      • so "next year" i.e 2014-2015 you can claim the cost of managing tax affairs as deductible.

no, if you pay for the Scoopon in this financial year, you can clam it for your 2012-2013 return, you can't claim it for next year's return.
if you pay for it after 30-June, which you would normally do when paying an accountant, then you would claim it the following year.

        • Yes JV

•Plus the cost of your Scoopon is fully tax-deductible in next year’s tax return!

This is wrong, this scoopon deal is only for 5 days from today(20/06/2013). That means anyone who wish to buy this deal, they have to incure tax preparation cost (D10) on this financial year 2012/13. so cost of Scoopon can be deduct on this tax return (2012/13). You are absolutely correct JV.

by looking this statement you can guess how is this cheep tax return works. you will lose tax preparation deductions also. that means you can't get your maximum refund. THAT MEANS,,,,, BELOW STATEMENT ALSO WRONG!

•Make sure you get your maximum return this year

when you didn't receive maximum return, YES!!! it is a real pain for your hardly earned money… THAT MEAN BELOW STATMENT ALSO WRONG!

•Take the pain out of tax time with expert assistance of Flinders Accounting

DON'T GO TO THIS $29, DO IT YOUR SELF OR GO TO PROFESSIONAL TAX AGENT. BECAUSE YOU WILL LOSE MORE MONEY FROM YOUR REFUND THAN THIS DISCOUNT.

        • +1

That means you pay them on next financial year

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you have to pay $29 for the Scoopon now? Don't you? or will Scoopon charge you after 30-June???

  • Can't imagine how it can be worthwhile for the to do it for this price. My firm charges $180 to do these and I am considering giving them the flick next year…

Be happy to pay the $29 to meet the girl in the ad though.

    • don't expect anything special for $29…

  • Perhaps ATO would like to see everyone use their etax software.and if the government have it their way they will make tax returns optional for purely PAYE tax payers.but if a tax agent can provide guidance to achieve a higher refund then wouldn't it be worthwhile to at least get an estimate..
