  I thought that Dell used to have/advertise a "basic" laptop for $799 anyway.

    From what I remember it started at $750, then crept to $800. The 20% off is just a load of BS because you're just getting it for the price it was a week or two back. I'd be expecting core 2 duo for $800.

    I got mine when it was $750 with 20% off = $600.

      Actually it started at $699, which is when I bought one. Since then the price has gone up but the specs have continually been downgraded.

    As far as I know the audio upgrade is just a piece of software - same sound card and speaker so it might be a waste of money.
    I'd be looking at screen resolution upgrade and/or bluetooth.
