  • I would take out the RAM upgrade as you're only taking out the 1GB stick and adding a 2GB for $121 extra.
If 3GB of RAM is not enough, upgrade for less than $40 from a computer shop AFTER your 1 year warranty expires.
XP and Vista 32bit will only see 3.5GB anyway :-)
Got my system down to $1,277.98.

Does anyone qualify for Small Business?
    Do I need an ABN?

Will save this to cart and see how other laptops stack up.

Great deal for a $1700 laptop for $1,277.98 or 25% off total.

    • You do not need to provide an ABN or own an actual small business to access DELL small business pricing. Just proceed to checkout as normal, you can make up a company name for the delivery address.

Good point about the RAM upgrade.

  • Plenty of other offerings at $1300 with dedicated graphics (up to Nvidia 9600GT) and newer more battery efficient P8x00 processors, running 1066Mhz FSB, so not sure how much of a bargain this really is: 14.1" BenQ S42, 14.1" NEC E6510, Acer 16.4" AS6930G-842G25Mn (after $149 cashback), Asus 13.3" F6VE-3P007ES, Lenovo SL500

    • Sure, each individual should compare other models on offer. What sealed this deal for me was the offer of an additional 22" monitor for $99 or 24" for $199 (including delivery).

The monitor itself is a bargain! (but has to be purchased with a system)

      • Good point about the monitor(s).
        I don't need one (28" Viewsonic FTW!).
Dell seem to be "clearing out" quite a few monitors via free upgrades or cheap additions.

    • +1

My friend got one of these, unbeatable price at these specs. Can switch between onboard graphics when mobile to prolong battery life, and 9600GT when plugged in and gaming.

      • I think your friend is telling you nonsense. None of the Vostro's 1510 have a Nvidia 9600T option, nor do they use the newer battery-efficient P8x00 processors. Even sweeteners like big LCDs screens as "free" extras cannot hide that you are getting slower, one-gen older technology for similiar $$$.

14.1” BenQ S42, 14.1” NEC E6510, Acer 16.4” AS6930G-842G25Mn (after $149 cashback), Asus 13.3” F6VE-3P007ES, Lenovo SL500 all better, faster, newer, more battery efficient alternatives (see a few posts up on links). These Vostros should just sell for $999 and be done with it.

        • Good Point.
First Dell need to make the 1525 less than $799 again.
Blaming the "financial" colpase again. Grrrrr.

        • I think you misunderstood me, my friend bought an s42 - I replied under your comment about the s42 so I would have thought you'd know I was referring to the benq s42.
