  • No sizing chart makes it impossible to know what you are buying, also

"Blessed Earth is about leadership and making available the very best for people at the best prices available in as many ways as it can, operating at all levels"

Very best for people as long as you are small, unlike many disabled people who cant exercise. I am sorry but for a company that claims to be all about ethics, the exclusion of so many people who are less able just does not wring true - something is very wrong here. Would love to be proven wrong, but i checked a lot of stuff and nothing over XL for women. When you make claims like above - expect to be held to high standards

  • If you were serious as a business about making a profit and promoting ethical consumption at the same time you should be appalled at how poorly you are marketing to the ozbargaining community.

I don't get it as you hold a fair trade endorsement for some of your cotton products.

    Just stop already.

Oh and off topic disabled does not equal more than XL sized, plenty of people who are "disabled" run, swim, kayak and do astounding things which put me to shame. But use yes I agree making high claims means living up to them.

    Sigh

    • Do note i didnt say all disabled people - I said 'many disabled people who cant exercise'.
Not all disabilities do, but it is exceedingly common for many disabilities to cause weight gain or difficulty exercising. I havent been allowed to run etc (docs orders) since i was 30. It becomes a vicious circle too. Could write pages but it isnt about me - was about some1 else i had in mind

    • If you have any suggestions how I can better present offers to the OzBargain community, please comment and I'll try my best to fulfil them.

  • I bought a whole bunch of stuff from them before. Baby clothes were a nice cotton and cheap with 15% clearance. The women's tops at $5 with 15% off were a great basic. The women's pants do look like pjs but for a breastfeeding new mum I'm quite happy to lounge ard in comfy cotton pants at $5 with 15% off.

    • Thank you for appreciating the value Blessed Earth is trying to give to the market.

  • Comfy pants are good.

I guess I am frustrated in that I want businesses that sell ethical products to succeed.

But being smart at promoting yourself is important, and repeating exactly the same unsuccessful marketing strategy is not :(

That's if the positive votes, or lack of them are to be believed

Oh and the whole setting the RRP high and then heavily discounting is enough to avoid this merchant for me, no matter what certification they hold. Not cool!

    • I'm aware that past offers weren't attractive, and were even negative to most of the OzBargain community. I would avoid posting such offers now.

However, this offer particularly ($1-$5), I believe presents great value for organic wear.

      • I agree, aside from limiting quantity the prices are good.

What concerns me is the original prices quoted mostly. I more than appreciate the need for a business to be profitable, but can you seriously tell me a baby's jumpsuit is $35?

If that's the case then I would still buy elsewhere. To make sure my $ are going to someone who can be competitive to give a viable ethical alternative.

        • Blessed Earth is current selling the clearance Organic Baby Jumpsuit at $5. At its original price, it's still reflective of most of the market prices for organic wear. The 15% discount code is still valid, so do give our products a try and feedback if its representative of its value.

  • Unfortunately Natt, that price of $35 for a baby jumpsuit is not uncommon for most baby shops and brands. Baby clothes at baby shops have price tags that exceed what I'd spend on a lot of my clothes. And any of the organic cotton like pure baby or Gaia have prices higher than regular baby clothes. And they aren't fair trade even! The clothes at my local fair trade store also have similar RRP.
One baby store in my suburb (middle class inner west), has baby jumpsuits at $70 and I've never seen them go on sale. So someone buys at those prices!

  • I did a bit of researching, and I think if I was buying these goods at full price I would be aiming for Australian Made/organic cotton. Which seems to be cheaper RRP.

I must admit when I see
    http://www.blessedearth.com.au/products.php?product=Men%27s-…
with an RRP of $99 (discounted to $10) and they are not of merchantable quality it makes me leary

That and things like "We do not advertise and the business is growing rapidly from referrals"
    But posts on ozbargain

I can't help wondering if the mark up is so high, how much is actually going to help the manufacturers? And is it enough? I thought fairtrade included giving them a fair price?

It just smacks of exploiting a important principle to make a profit. Rather than being invested in making a difference by offering market competitive/fair cost items. Which would shift people to these better choices.

I would love to see a breakdown of the actual costs involved. If everyone is doing it, its still not right :(

    Anyway off my soap-box

I'll back off negging the OP, for me its always a wrangle in trying to make sure my $$ are going to ethical businesses and it can be VERY hard sometime to tell who is, and whos not.

Perhaps I am unfairly being wrathful.
