180

Was looking to pick u some bike accessories this weekend and just got an email from Reid Cycles about their warehouse clearance sale. All bikes are on sale (including their fixies) so might be worth a look if you want a cheap bike (not sure how good they are in terms of quality though - but now cheaper than before).

Very limited accessories at 70% off but most things are at least 20% off so save a few $.

  • Can anyone comment on the 2013 Reid Osprey Flat Bar?
I'm only a beginner and the price looks quiet good.

    • Can't comment about the Osprey but my girlfriend got a Vintage bike from them about two weeks ago and she loves it. Build quality is good for the price. Its not too heavy and was easy to assemble. Delivered in three days.

If I had known about their bikes before I would probably have bought from them instead of Cell Bikes.

I'd advise to get a drop bar, not a flat bar. If you end up doing any decent amount of riding at all, you'll probably end up wanting a drop bar.

    • I got the Osprey (drop bar) a couple of years ago and it's still going strong. I was just a beginner as well and I use it for my commute to work and some weekend rides. As raisinberry777 said, if you end up getting into cycling you'd want the drop bar.

The only thing I'd suggest to initially upgrade are the tyres as the one's that come they come with a quite puncture prone. I'd highly recommend a couple of Continental Gatorskins. Maybe they can do a deal for you with the bike!

Edit: The price for 2 Gatorskins is $63.20 which isn't too bad: http://www.reidcycles.com.au/2-gatorskins.html

$169.15 for a Reid fixie delievered is a steal IMO. Almost deserves it's own post.

Pulled the trigger on this one, thanks OP

Edit: not to mention "For extra peace of mind, all Reid Cycles bikes now come with a Lifetime warranty on frame & forks, 12 months warranty on parts, plus 12 months FREE brake servicing. We also offer a FREE $100 accessories pack with every bike!"

  • I've got a Reid Condor, had it for about 8 months now, seems pretty good for what you would pay. My handlebar tape is starting to split, but new stuff is like 10 bucks on ebay, not a big deal

    • Have you had any problems with it? I'm considering getting the Aquila so would love any pos/neg feedback on your bike :)

  • I bought a Harrier Custom around 5 months looks mint and rides smoothly. Only issues I have had are two punctures, the frame is very well built and where all the money is put however the rubber on the tires is cheap and wears easily. I recommend getting the additional puncture proof tyres. Other than that awesome bikes

    • user mr tuffy's tyre liner, works a treat, no more punctures

  • Be sure to check their eBay store; it's usually cheaper and the discount is applied there too.
