  • whats the difference between this and just copying my entire sd card onto a hardrive?

    • Incremental backup.

sorry…this is too technical….what does incremental backup mean? care to elaborate a little for not so techy people?

        • +1

On first backup it will essentially copy the entire sd card but on future backups it will only backup files that have changed since the first backup thus saving space your harddrive.

From what I can see you still have to pay for a licence,
    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tfl.tbp.li….

    • When you install it says free portion upgrade inside the app.

      • Oh so it's not really a deal then it's just a free and paid version? Was the basic version always free?

  • Jus iinstalled it, very limited back up options. Going back to "my backup pro"

  • I've currently got titanium backup but it's not the easiest to use. I'd like something super simple, was going it was this but if options are limited, it's back to searching

    • Mybackup pro has many more root and non root backup options.

  • Titanium Backup does a lot more, installed this and made a backup but it's pretty much just "1 click" with not a lot of options.

  • it says the truBackup License cost $$$ , not free?
    i am confused

    • Version 1.03 License costs money which is this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tfl.tbp.li….

Version 2.3 is free which is the one in this post

    • You're not the only one. I installed it via the Google Play website and the app still showed the Upgrade to Premium button. I uninstalled it and installed it again and this time a pop up appeared when I opened the app saying I've been upgraded to the Premium version. Perhaps try that as well.

      • You might need to restart your android and then open the app and it will pop up the message for a free upgrade.

    • It backs up, but shows no actual data in the folders. .. am I doing something wrong? Says backup size is 420mb but n no files are visible

  • this is pretty handy to backup your sms and photos - thx op

Guys, the only true backups on Android is Titanium root, otherwise Helium (paid version) for non-root

    • what do you mean the only "true" backup? what does titanium do that this or My Backup Pro doesn't?

      • …or Rom Toolbox Pro

        • …or Nandroid :) My Backup Pro doesn't allow to remove certain system restricted apps, nor you can freeze and remove.

        • My Backup Pro doesn't have the ability to encrypt your backups, and has worse online integration (Dropbox/Box/Google Drive) than Titanium Backup.

        • I just find titanium a bit unfriendly, I'm sure it's fine but I'm not 100% confident I got everything right so I can do a Wroe and a custom Rom install

  • why not make the license free for a while instead to make it easier for all of us? would be a crapload simpler and easier esp long term!

    • indeed. once the promo end you can't uninstall it if you want to keep the premium one unless you're happy with the free version. it's like "appsoftheday" free apps which is I hate it.

I've heard it's a function of Google Play store, once an app is free it can't be 'un-freed'. I think the way this app is giving away the free license is via an in-app purchase process.
