Buy eBook "Choose Yourself" and Receive a Free Amazon Gift Certificate of Same Value

33

So the book is by successful author/entrepenuer James Altucher and it is he personally that is offering a full refund on the book's purchase price.

EDIT: For international buyers, you will receive an Amazon gift certificate to the value of your purchase - NOT A REFUND.

All you have to do is prove to him that you've read the book (see the link for details about how), provide a copy of the receipt and he'll give you your money back! Offer is valid until three months from publication date. What a cool idea.

Title is misleading. The book is not free and encourages unethical behaviour to obtain it for free.

  • it's now a free book…

How do I prove to him that I have read the book? He is going to quizz me about it? Send him a copy of the receipt? What a load of rubbish. It's not free. It is an expensive convoluted form of cash-back scheme at best. No deal here.

      Crazy Cashback!

Within the first three months of the official publication date, do these two things:
      1) Send me a copy of the receipt to [email protected]. There is a kindle version, a paperback, and an audio version and they all cost different amounts. I need to know what you paid.

      2) Then chose one of the following to send together with the receipt:
      - You can write an honest review anywhere you want.
      - You can take a photograph of yourself reading the book.
      - You can write me a testimonial or an email asking me questions that show you’ve read the book.
If you can think of other ways, that’s fine too.
The point is: prove to me you read the book, and get your money back.

If it is posted as a cheque, my bank would charge $10 to get my $5 back!!!

Exactly! Not that hard is it? And certainly not "unethical behaviour" Thanks Bruce :)

        • Um.. how do I read a book? ;)

      • So how much does it cost you to bank a $5 cheque from the US?

Last time I banked a cheque from the US, it was $35 or something.

        • If it is posted as a cheque, my bank would charge $10 to get my $5 back!!!

Americans still love cheques, so I am assuming that will be the form of payment.
(2 years back depositing an overseas cheque with Suncorp cost $10. Last year's MS Hardware CashBack paid into my bank, which charged $2.50 per CashBack & overseas would be much higher. MS refunded the fee after I complained.)
If it is a cheque - NO DEAL! Only seems OK if payment details are nailed down & you want to read the book.

Ok, so the author has clarified that for international purchasers, they will get an Amazon gift certificate to the value of their ebook/paperback purchase.

So, no it's not FREE. I will change the post to remove the misleading info.

        • and I will now give it a '+' :)

  • What a way to get people to read and hopefully review your book. I would be interested to know how many bother

    • Should get an indication by number of reviews / downloads.
Have seen other authors provide free copies, as long as you post (good) reviews & tell your friends.
The initial spike in readers pushes the book up the list on Amazon etc, driving more people to buy.
(I posted a free book deal, but never reviewed it. http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/90666 23 '+' but 0 comments)
