      No

    • Both uses Zeiss lenses which is already a major win over the competition though RX100 is definitely the more advanced model over the HX50V. Portability combined with excellent image quality (even in low lights) and video quality, arguably the best point-and-shoot on the market right now for everyday usage.

Aesthetically might be a bit lacking and ergonomics can be an issue though but what's inside really counts in this case.

      • RX100 has Vario-Sonnar T* glass, HX50 has G glass. The former is supposed to be of much bttter quality than the latter.

        • It is exactly what I meant. RX100 uses using in Canon terminology L quality glass.
HX50 - the one used in pretty much all the other P&S cameras.

      • +1

No, only the RX100 has a Zeiss lens, the HX50v use Sony's own G lens. The RX100 is much more superior because it combines a Zeiss lens with a 1 inch sensor, which is bigger than the HX50v. However the HX50v is more versatile for most users because it has a huge zoom and is compatible with an EVF.

will either of them get rid of my pimples?

Photoshop could. Or try nearby chemist :)

  • this camera is now almost a year old. I own it. I'd wait for ver.2. I bought mine for $600 at SONY/jbhifi when they had a 20% off all cameras a year ago.

    • You can always wait for something better, but you have to have something to take photos and video.
I got mine for $458 from JR Duty Free with GST taken out.
Version 2 will be at least $700 once released, then it will drop to $550…600 mark (via sales, etc) within a year or so.
Are you ready to wait for 1.5…2 years till then ?
