Can the $10 sim be used for play store credit?

    • would also like to know.
This would be a ridiculous bargain.

    • I've made a comment here regarding those $10 SIMs: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/104088#comment-1403894

      In short, no. I've tried.

      • yah they dont work with play store

        • how about creditme2u?

        • No.

You cannot send credit from this IPAD sim to any other mobile.

  • iPad $30 Sim with 3GB Bonus data

Can you clarify whether this could be used to buy apps/music from the Play Store?

    • dunno with these prepaid and shipped ones but if you get the prepaid ipad sims from the post for 10$ that are worth $30 they only have 3gb data on them but you can get the telstra 24x7 staff to change it into a Long life plan for your mobile just make sure they add the credit at the end. but I'm not sure how this will work since these are preactivated before being sent out were as the one you buy from the post office isn't activated you get the CS support to activate it for you as another plan.

"You can buy as many as you like" I'm pretty sure you if you have more than a couple of sims registered to your name, you get a call from the AFP. Can someone confirm pls?

    • +3

why.? when did getting sims registered in your name started being an offense or a red flag :/

      • +1

i agree with the rep here, but i'm a bit sceptic about the "preactivated" part!
You need the owner's details in order to activate the sim, so if i get a preactivated sim whose name is under?

        • oh.i think we have a misunderstanding here. once you buy it, we will send you YOUR sim card number. you activate it and just send us the confirmation page screenshot and we will dispatch the sim. its under your name or whoever you activate it under

          thanks

        • So, that means that the cards are NOT pre-activated :)

        • you buy > we send the serial# > you activate > send us the screenshot > we confirm corresponding sim > prepare for shipment > we ship it > you receive it pre activated

        • +1

Such a complicate service and process for $1 goods, with free shipping. +1 from me just for the effort you are going to make, though I don't need any more simcard atm.

      • Why would someone need to have 5 or more sim cards registered to his name?

        • Drug dealer?

        • +6

:) i do have more than 5 sim cards registered to my name, never received an AFP call.
the reason is simple: Telstra(not only) is treating their loyal customers like shît, so i have got a pile of 30$ sim cards bought for $10 when on special, and every month instead of recharging my ipad i just activate new sim and i get 3GB for one month. that means 36GB a year for 120$ instead of 12GB for 180$$$

        • -1

I was thinking more along the lines of terrorists:) but yeah drug dealer is a good one too.

I have an active iphone plan, plus an active data sim in a tablet, plus my daughter's mobile is in my name. That's 3.
I have sims from Telstra, Voda, Virgin and optus that were specials with prepaid data plans where I have used the data up but the sims are still active if I reload credit, that's 7.
I don't do international calls much, or try and save network to network free calls, but I know people who do and have active sims to do that, so that could add a few more.

People on here have routinely activated 1 to 2 sims per month with out any such call. Your worry is unfounded, or can you give some evidence for this, like what is asked in such a call?
"Hello, we noticed you have a few too many sims in your name, care to explain?", "Oh that's just because it works out at better value, a dude on ozbargain had a sale.", "Oh, ozbargain, I see now. Sorry to bother you.".

    • Really? I don't know I was in such severe danger since few years before, about 5 or 6 sim cards are under my name. All PAYG plan with 0 fee.

    • +1

Sorry, can't find the thread where I've read this. But found this one instead : whirlpool discussion
and also this from ASIO where they say they have to apply for a warrant for each of a suspect's sim cards. So if a suspect has 10 sims, they will need 10 warrants. Would make sense that they would want to limit the number of registered sim cards that someone can have.
BTW when you're activating your sim card, they ask you if you already have 5 or more active sim cards. Anyone ever ticked that box?Do they let you proceed with the registration? Do they ask for more IDs?

      • Would also like to know this.

      • When activating via the Telstra live chat they never asked me if i have more than 5 sim cards…

        • hmm looking at my chat log they didn't ask me either neat!

    • +2

      Rubbish.

Nobody cares how many SIM's you have.

      No-one gets into any trouble.

I have more than 100 SIM's all in different names.

      • +1

wow, you must be a big time panadol pusher…. if the some of the above can be believed… :)

  • I rang the shop busy, but he called us back said these 3G ipad sim didn't work on phones, tried different APN settings etc.
    he's not sure why… ?? mmmm

    • that's because when you activate a new card, the Telstra assistant will ask you if its aphone sim or data-only sim. if it's activated as a data only sim then you cannot make /receive calls and messages

      • Can the cards be activated as $30 phone sims?

        • +1

i always activate through telstra's live chat https://livechat.telstra.com/ and they always ask me if i want the sim card activated for a phone or an ipad

        • +1

Well since we're activating it instead of the seller we should hopefully be able to activate them as phone ones then.

        • I've done it via 24x7 chat before so I don't know what your talking about.

      • I reckon it won't work with devices other than ipad?

  • Sorry I should have clarified here, seller said the 3G data component didn't work on android phones ?? just ipads…

    • Yeah, I don't know how they lock it so it only works with ipads, but it really is a restraint of trade (Third line forcing). In theory the ACCC should be interested if you complain.

  • $10 to post iPad sim to Sydney, deal breaker.

    • please choose free shipping at checkout.
      its free shipping australia wide!

      • Tryed it again and it works now, thanks rep +

    • That's what I see too in the cart but the rep states it's $6 inclusive of delivery:

iPad $30 Sim with 3GB Bonus data - for $6 (Preactivated) Delivered.

It's probably a bug or maybe it'll disappear when you pay?

For me the dealbreaker is not knowing whether you can use it on the Playstore or not. Not worth the $4 if you can't IMO.

  • just bought the $6 ipad sim shipping was free, i am going to try to use it in my 4g modem.

    • Bought one as well gonna see if I can get them to convert to mobile longlife plan shouldn't be any problem did it before although I wonder if they'll start questioning me why I'm doing this if I keep doing this every few weeks lol.

  • Just some feedback. I bought the same deal last week from idroid.net.au for $5. Sent my screenshot by email, got confirmation from them same day that it was posted, and received the sim in post (to Perth) in 3 working days. Put in a 3G 850/2100mhz modem/dongle & all works 100%. Good deal for 3Gb, how about ongoing deals?

    • micro sim in your 3G dongle?

      • yup.works well! you just have to align it properly or use an adaptor

    • which modem did u use, does it matter?

  • It's been over 6 hours since my purchase and I still haven't received the sim serial number.

    • yes . please wait. you will get it today before 12:00 midnight. sorry for the delay. once you activate it and send us the screenshot, we will dispatch it same day. so lets say if you do it tomorrow. we will dispatch it tomorrow

      thanks

      • Damn, I was hoping of getting it dispatched by today so I could get the SIM card tomorrow

        • will get dispatched tomorrow. sorry

        • Could you please update the deal to represent the delay.

        • ok cool

  • Received my Sim serial no but looking back at my chat logs with telstra staff they also asked for the service number so sent an email response to idroid hopefully they respond quickly.

    • I done online didn't need s/n, so staff should be able to do it for you with out it.

      • Dunno if they still ask for it but was asked for it last time so thought i should get it this time dunno guess it's not required but couldn't hurt to wait to get the number just to be sure. thanks for the response though.

I would like to get the ipad sim. However it is very tedious. Why dont you just limit 1 sim per person?

  • Can I use this sim in Bangkok (Thailand)? Any international roaming? Telstra or Voda?

    • The Telstra 3gig ipad credit pack you can use overseas, although your charged at a rate of $15.36 per Megabyte

  • Will you have more of the $6 iPad sim pack in stock tomorrow?

    • yes we do a few left
      please check the link

Its two per customer MAX . and it has to be activated before dispatched as per the deal

      thanks

      • thanks picked up two. Any limit on when they have to be activated by? I'm switching internet plans and they're forcing me to cancel/resignup, so a little wifi will go a long way at that time.

        • -1

You'll have to activate them before they're sent out. Read the item description.

        • read my post before replying dingus

        • sorry if I misunderstand but the limit of when they have to be activated is as soon as you receive the activation code via email. Once you get the sim serial no. you'll need to activate it right away or else the seller won't ship it out.

Unless your asking if the seller if they could set some aside for you so you can buy it later but I'm not entirely sure what your asking.

        • What I was asking was could I purchase two, and not activate it right away. Then, when I needed them, activate the sim, and have it shipped to me. They would be setting some aside for me, but I would have already paid for them.

        • i don't think that would be an issue as you've already paid for them and they've sent you the serial numbers

the sim cards aren't sent until after you've activated them - when that is is up to you :)

  • yup
they have to be acivated first before dispatch

    • ok Looks all out of stock now for the 6$ ipad sims.
Are you going to get any more in at this price?
I'd be interested and am sure more people would be.
And will it be max 2 per person in total forever?
or is it just per order/batch? Like hopefully next time when you get more.

Also I was able to get 24/7 chat support To transfer my ipad sim to an Longlife Mobile phone plan with 30$ credit on it if anyone wants some slightly edited chat logs showing how it's done let me know I'll pm them to you.

chat logs are pretty unnecessary but opening question ask them "I have a Ipad $30 prepaid sim and want to activate it for use with my Android mobile phone.
I'd like to activate it under the Longlife mobile phone plan would you be able to help me with that?"

After that everything else falls in place they ask you for the Service number and the Sim serial make sure you ask Idroid to send you the Service number (as they only sent me the Serial as standard procedure) before you get onto chat support as you'll need it.

  • These are useless, they won't ship unless activated so you can't have a stock of SIM cards! Don't buy!

    • true not particularly useful if your going to want to use them for data but using chat support into long life mobile plan turns these babys into 80% off for google play and thats just <MOD - Removed foul language> stupid.

It's almost gotten to the point where I'm like well what the hell do I buy off google play now?
trying to figure out what to use my last 99c on one right now.

    • Dude, it's only $6 per SIM.

      Not useless at all.

Some people (like me) go through 3GB a week!

I hope iDroid gets some more in!

  • iDroid,

When are you getting some more of these $6 SIMs?

  • So keen for this, when are more coming?!

  • I used this in my android phone and only got 2 days worth of internet usage (no downloading), can anyone else confirm they get the same issue ?

  • When are you going to get more $6 IPad sim cards???
