Turning off Adblock plus (middle clicking the icon) will allow you to see it.

        • oh right!
          cheers!

howd you know im using ABP! :p

  • I cant find any info the frequencies this thing covers. Need to check as the modem is built in. IE 850Mhz for Telstra?

    • i am planning to use it on telstra as well. but
      http://files.dlink.com.au/Products/DIR-457U/Datasheet/DIR-45…
the link doesnt say anything about 850mhz.

      • In a review posted on ozcableguy.com

Warning: D-Link's specifications state support for 850, 900, 1800 & 1900 MHz but the fine print at the bottom says "Supported frequency band is dependent upon regional hardware version". In Australia it only works on 900MHz. 850MHz (Telstra Ultimate) is not supported.

        • From the user manual (downloaded from D-Link):
The DIR-457/DIR-457U supports two band selection options:
Automatic - The DIR-457/DIR-457U automatically selects the band
based on the networks available in current area.
3G Only - Restricts the DIR-457/DIR-457U to using 3G service on
          WCDMA 850/1900/2100 bands.
2G Only - Restricts the DIR-457/DIR-457U to using 2G service on
          GPRS 850/900/1800/1900 bands.

        • I'm tempted to neg this because the MSY ad doesn't say which UMTS frequencies it supports, and D-Link has conflicting information. The User manual claims it supports UMTS 850/1900/2100 MHz (Telstra, NOT Optus). On the other hand, the datasheet on the D-Link website says it supports UMTS 1900/2100 MHz (Nobody). If that wasn't bad enough, an asterisk on that same datasheet mentions:

"* Supported frequency band is dependent upon regional hardware version. Supported UMTS bands include 1900/2100 MHz, 900/1900/2100 MHz and
          900/2100 MHz"

This would mean it supports Optus and NOT Telstra.

          lolwut?

Also bear in mind its only 7.2mbps.

  • Can anyone give me a basic rundown of how this works? Thanks.

    • Its just a 3G modem, same as any Huawei-type stick, married to a Wifi router - similar to Pocket Wifi and a few others.
So internets IN via 3G (with SIM card) /internets OUT to you via Wifi as per normal Wifi router.
      But small and portable

    • Think you just put a SIM card with 3G data in it and it accesses the Internet much like a phone. Since it's also a wireless router it creates a wireless network so other devices can access the Internet via it.

    • Good for creating wifi hot spot. Just put a data sim and away u go. Got one last time works well. As my ipad is wifi only I can use this when I'm out house hunting and need the web.

  • Does it have an Ethernet port, looking for something to use as a travel router for places that provide wired but not wireless. Was fine when using a netbook but not with tablets.
