  • If you don't mind the refurbished model and a slow processor (Pent M 1.6GHz), this is cheap. If you like a brand new netbook, buy an Eee pc or dell mini which is around 550.

  • It should be noted this is a refurbished notebook of a model released about 4 years ago.

You can likely get a better deal from an auction house like Grey's Online or off of Ebay.

Here's the link for Ebay refurbished laptops: http://computers.shop.ebay.com.au/items/Laptops-Notebooks__W…

  • wow, this is like going back in time haha

    Pent M 1.6ghz haha

    that's lik ancient history

  • This actually isn't a terrible laptop. Running XP Pro it should fly along. Lack of dedicated graphics is disappointing though.

$417.50 for a 15.4" laptop is reasonable. Gone are the days of the $499/$550 'after rebate' Compaq's though! They were all Celeron 1.6GHz+ and would have been much better in comparison.

But today, and in these times with value based laptops creeping back to $800, I think this is a good deal. Even an old, refurbished laptop like this is more than capable of browsing the Internet, listening to music, using instant messaging and watching DVDs. For some people this is more than what they need.

So, after long justification, I vote thee +1 :)

  • This is not a bargain. Go to any weekend computer market and you will get similar specs for less! Just yesterday at the North Rocks markets (Sydney) the was a 17in HP Pavilion 1.6 Ghz PM for $380, refurb with 1 year warranty, and very similiar NEC laptop (forget the exact model) for $340. If you were willing to go to $550 they had current model core2duo tosihba's.

  • Wow this is nearly the EXACT laptop I have. I have an Acer Extensa 2300. 1.5GHz Celeron M, 256MB RAM (which is upgraded to 512). I've run this computer 18 hours a day for over 3 years and it's never failed me. It's not a bad machine if you don't mind the brand name. I have the same chassis as displayed, just without the 6-1 card reader and the better ram and HDD.

  • Well the specs are a bit skimpy but I think the Dual Layer burner, 6-in-1 card reader and nice widescreen make up for it.

Obviously this is not supposed to be anything more than a travelling word processor and Internet browser, so people expecting to use this for gaming or anything else will be sorely disappointed.
