for those who wants to convert from FAT to NTFS, check out the convert command in windows command line. it's free. ;)

though, converting between file systems, it's always better to copy out the files, quick wipe it and copy back.
reason being, it's faster, and you will end up with a 'defragged' HDD when you are done. and while you are copying the files to another storage, you subconsciously made a backup. ;)

the only time you want to convert filesystems on-the-fly is when you are changing operating systems, which you want to use the big guns of HDD imaging and restoration/cloning utilities.

  • convert C: /fs:ntfs

  • The Windows command line works without any problems but only from FAT32 to NTFS. You can't go back to FAT32. Sounds like this program will do that, but I would not trust it for sensitive/important data.

  • Anyone who misses out on this - I use this little utility and it works really well:

    http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/Hard-Disk-Utils/FAT32for…

Not saying use that instead, but should anyone stumble across this after expiry.

EDIT: You do lose data using Fat32Format.
