  • Seems like you really like Nexus 7 hey? Some of your badges are regards to nexus 7 deal :)

  • Fair price, and no new Nexus 7 has been announced at Google IO so might be picking one up.

    • +4

      It's only been day 1

      • I know, so hopefully there are announcements relating to their Nexus devices, the smartwatch or their X phone, but rumour is their won't be.

    • +2

A Nexus 7 with a notification light was shown in the Hangouts video, chances are there will be a new version.

      • +1

I hope so but I just checked the schedule and there no more keynote speeches left for the week. Just like everybody else though, I hope they do make an announcement

        • +1

agreed. I wouldn't expect any further announcement although the lack of an update to the nexus 7 was odd.

      • Lol I'd laugh if that's the only upgrade they did… just chuck in a notification light haha

        • +11

This was Google IO, not Apple ;)

  • Any chance of pricematch at OW?

    • OW no longer has 16gb, only has 32gb.

  • it's this a better deal for an extra $50
http://m.harveynorman.com.au/asus-nexus-7-tablet-32gb.html and even officeworks has it $1 cheaper than that

So many nexus 7 deals. I'm hanging out for a deal on the the nexus 10. Do retail shops even stock it?

  • I had the 16gb version and loved it. with all the apps I could use and a few movies I still didn't run out of room. I had a couple of USB 8gb and 16gb full of movies which work really well with the OTG cable. I left it in a Taxi in Beijing while playing with a GPS App.

I have been waiting for the Nexus 7.2 to be announced so I dont feel so bad replacing the old one. I would hate to buy and then have a new model come out next week with better specs at same price. If no announcements soon I will probably wait for a super special on the 32gb model even though I was happy with the 16gb one

    • +1

Man, you really know how to tip taxi drivers. Nice ;)

  • I am waiting the new version too. Is 7 inch enough for watching video?

    • +9

I think a 55inch tv is not big enough for watching video.

    • +1

7 inch is great. Not too small, not too big. you can hold it in one hand for extended periods of time. fits in your back pocket (not joking), the back is nice and durable rubber so wont slip off anywhere or scratch. highly recommended

      • +1

I second that! 7 inch is great ;) Highly recommended.

  • ha ha I was the last person in Australia to get rid on my old 26" TV Now that I have had the 50" Panasonic for 12 months I keep looking at it thinking I should have got bigger.

The Nexus 7 is great for watching videos. you can prop it up anywhere or hold it forever.

  • +1

I'm still waiting for a good deal on the 3G model 16/32 I don't care which I just want one with Sim card.

    Around $219 would be nice.

I'm very sure you can put a custom firmware and get Tethering option rather than the default with no option

  • +4

you guys will be kicking yourself if the Nexus 7.2 is released next month for $199.

    • Why?

      • +6

because it will be better…not to be rude but kinda obvious…

        • -7

          Dumbest reply goes to……

Seriously thats the best you have? why bother responding

    • More like $349 or $399, you forgot aussies get ripped off. It will priced the same as when Nexus 7 first got out.

Not sure (if the new one if there's is a new revision that is) is worth that extra $150

      • +1

Would be worth it if it's got Tegra 4 vs the Tegra 3 and screen be 1080p vs the 720p, hopefully it will also have micro sd slot and micro hdmi.

        • +3

The chance of SDCard is very slim….

Google is heavy invested and promoting Google Drive, Gmail etc cloud solutions. They won't give you SDCard slot for sure…Look at Nexus 4, Nexus 7 and 10 none have those, don't see the reason they will give it on the new revised version

      • Good point, but fortunately there's now far greater price competition from models like the Kindle and even the new Acer Iconia. It'd be far harder to price so high again (well, that is unless Google merges with Apple and takes on their pricing policy :)

Anyway, if you're happy to wait an extra month, the biggest price drop usually occurs up front. eg.:

        http://camelcamelcamel.com/Google-Nexus-Tablet-16-GB/product…

    • as far as version control goes, wouldn't it be 7.1?

      • He probably meant, Nexus7 2

  • -3

really wonder if on shelf next to it is ipad mini 16g wifi with same price. which one would you grab:)

    • I'd go for the Nexus 7 because:
      *higher screen resolution
      *Android 4.1

The iPad mini is still awesome, but it's display is really whats lacking it!

It's a shame that Google didnt announce new generations of the Nexus family at the I/O Conference last week though :( … so i may get this!
