Well i guess this is good for the people who missed out on the free Metro 2033 in two recent offers.

    • Which offers :(

      • There was a $3 offer yesterday which I picked up last night.

    • +1

I got the game for free during their facebook promotion earlier this year

  • I like it when companies give away or dramatically reduce the price of an older game before a new one is released. It is fairly rare though - generally only DOS games are free, like Ultima 4, and Daggerfall.

There is an audiobook version of the English translation of Metro 2033 available. Russian writers tend to be very intense and often quite odd, like Dostoevsky, Gogol and Goncharev.

bought it anyway cos the trailers looked amazing :D

    $1.09AU lol

EDIT: aw.. have to wait for it to "process" before they give you the key, even though they've registered you've paid =\

  • +4

the price seems to actually be AUD $1.09

The advertised price of $0.99 is excluding GST. When selling stuff in Aus, prices are supposed to include GST are they not?

  • +3

Such an underrated game… was too early for the hardware of the day. Would run great now though and look amazing!

  • in case anyone wondering, this is not the latest version

i got confused, so might as well share

  • +1

    Bought, awesome price cheers.

  • Just tried to pay the $1.09 via bpay and it's below the billers limit….too much stuffing around to bother now.

    • You can use Bank deposit or credit/debit card

  • WARNING: This site has been caught selling counterfeit windows versions and using pirated E-Commerce software.

Frankly it wouldn't surprise me if these keys turned out to have originated from the Facebook giveaway and have been farmed in bulk using a script. I have no proof of that allegation, but considering this merchants past deeds I wouldn't put it past them.

based on 35 likes, i guess they've made around $34 so far then :)

    • The site/business has been bought out since then. The previous owner who was selling Windows without the correct license is no longer associated with the business. Since then the new owners put ALOT of time and effort into restoring the business's credibility.

This is shown through the massive increase in traffic and customers over the last 2 years.

  • looks so cool

I'm willing to bet these 99cent keys came from something dodgy like exploiting Facebook. I myself had 10 of them which i gave to my Steam friends.

    • +5

This is untrue. The cost of the game is more then what we are selling it for, the point of this sale is to promote Metro Last Light and to give the customers a chance to play through Metro 2033 before playing Last Light.

Instead of spending money on the standard advertising methods we thought we would put the funds towards something more beneficial to our customers.

      • +2

I like the way you think rep. Keep it up

      • I too like your attitude. People really appreciate this type of advertising, subsidizing prequels to highlight a soon to be released game rather than spending the money on intrusive adds. Cheers.

  • finally after waiting all day got the key by checking the site. Never got the confirmation email that I was told I would receive. Jumped on steam and put the key in, it activates the same version that was part of a december giveaway last year. Don't know if that matters to anyone, but the key works ;)

  • Takes a long time for them to verify the purchase…

I'm still waiting for my key and I haven't received any emails yet..

    • I didn't get any emails either, but got the key after about 20mins - when I noticed the order status changed.

My bank was suspicious of the transaction lol

      • We are aware of the email issue, it is due to scammers using fake emails which eventually gets our email blacklisted for 1 hour or more.

Sorry about any delays in processing, all orders are ready for pickup now

  • The Sale has currently stopped due to stock being sold out so fast!

    Enjoy the game!

  • Still waiting for my key…..

  • +2

The CD key does not get delivered by email. You have to go into your CDKey account to check the status of your order, and when it says it is ready to be delivered, you put your order number in the key retrieval section and it will show you your key.

I also just have mine activated on Steam and it does say the game version belongs to December giveaway. Maybe CDkey got a whole lot of free keys from that giveaway and sell them for $0.99 now, but I am happy with it as long as it is legit. If it is not legit, then it will be a different matter…

    • We have purchased these keys, the supplier may have got them from a giveaway but we are certainly not getting them for free

  • Stock has arrived and the SALE is still one for .99c less gst

  • +1

Can somebody associated with this site please explain why the advertised price does not include GST? It is only at checkout that a customer finds out that the true price is actually $1.09, not $0.99 as advertised.

Your advertising of this game for $0.99 both on OzBargain and your website breaches Australian consumer law. Since you are based in South Australia, here is the relevant Fair Trading page for South Australia:
    http://www.cbs.sa.gov.au/consumeradvice/smartshopping/multi-…

    And I quote:
"A supplier must not promote or state a price that is only part of the cost, unless also prominently advertising the single (total) price."

    "The single price must be:
    - clear at the time of the sale
    - as prominent as the most prominent component of the price."

"The single price is the total of all measurable costs and includes:
    - any charge payable, and
    - the amount of any tax, duty, fee, levy or charges (for example, GST)."

It's cool that you have this cheap deal and all, but you are creating intentionally misleading advertising and I cannot support a retailer that engages in such anti-consumer practices.

If you are not aware of such regulations, then now you know. I suggest that you fix this up and in future, advertise the ACTUAL price lest people file complaints against you.

    Cheers.

We have answered this question numerous times, the GST inclusive price is prominent at the time of the sale as it shows it in the checkout and cart.

We advertise less GST due to the fact that we sell our goods on a international scale, we cannot charge GST to non-Australian customers.

      • Sorry to be a pain, but selling to international customers does not exempt you from your responsibilities as an Australian retailer.

Your reasoning that it is prominent at checkout is the same as if a store advertised a GST-free price on shelves but rang up the item with the real price when the customer brings it to the checkout.

It fails the "single price must be … as prominent as the most prominent component of the price" requirement.

Amazon in Europe includes VAT or any other relevant taxes in their advertised selling price to comply with relevant local regulations and this is DEDUCTED at checkout for international customers.

You should either be doing the same as Amazon in Europe or if you want to show a tax-free price to international customers, check whether the visitor IP is from Australia or overseas and/or give a toggle on your site to display prices inclusive or exclusive of GST.

But at least you've corrected the price on OzBargain. Thanks.

        • Thanks for the advice lint, we will be chasing up OCBA and ACCC in regards to this so we can resolve it once and for all.

        • Also when adding a item to your cart a popup window appears which shows the price incl GST, this step is before you proceed to the checkout.

However we are looking into other measures such as automatic detection of Australian customers to show the price incl GST

  • Notice you don't offer paypal. Is there a reason for this? The benefit to consumers that if an unscrupulous retailer (not saying you are) was to do a runner and not follow through with the provision of a product, you have the piece of mind that you can request a refund through them.

    • We will never accept paypal until they change the way they treat there business customers.

  • May want to read this comment posted last month on Atomic. I would question where cdkeys.com.au are getting their keys from http://forums.atomicmpc.com.au/index.php?showtopic=54018

    • The issue above is caused by a suppliers fault, we do not use stolen credit cards to buy games.

If this was the case our business would not still be operating since 2010.

  • but sh.t it was 99 cents!
