      • If you choose paypal option, you will be directed to paypal portal and there will be an option near the bottom of the page allowing you to pay with credit card without a paypal account. You might want to give that a try first? Otherwise, our other choice of payment will be direct deposit.

  • Tempting very tempting…..

  • Does it have backlit keyboard?
    UPD: Seems like it does.

Was tempted until I saw the resolution. Oh well…

    • Don't get me wrong, I'm all for real estate on a screen - however the less resolution the native screen resolution is, will at least allow you to run your games at native resolution at faster FPS.

To run a Full HD screen at native res with the same graphics card you are going to severly drop your FPS, or sacrafice graphic details for more FPS at native res. Or then you could run at a lower non-native res with higher detail but it still won't look as good as a native lower res screen running at native, as the scaling of the lower res on a Full HD screen will impact image quality IMHO.

This being said, the above only refers to gaming if this your intended use of the laptop. :)

      • I'm looking for a work laptop. I'm the hunt, one will come up… it's just not THIS one.

I'm with Bamboozle. A 2GB graphics card would kill 1920 x 1080, why are laptop builders reducing the res? If this were a 12-13" screen maybe… Tablet screens keep ramping up, but laptops keep dropping. Even a Nexus 10 has 2560 x 1600!

First things first Mossy, love the gravatar.

Just because it has 2GB VRAM doesn't mean it is going to "kill 1920 x 1080". With video cards, it is all about the core GPU architecture what really matters and the 7670M is barely top-end more in mid-range of mobile GPU's.

When compared to their desktop version counterparts, mobile GPU's are designed to be quite restrained - this is mainly due to the lack of available Watts & even if these were plentiful, the inability to disperse heat that would be generated in such a compact space.

Not to say that some mobile GPU's can't achieve smooth Full HD gameplay, just not this particular GPU model with any current games at Full HD res with details maxed out probably not, games of a year or so ago yeah probably.

LOL - manufacturers aren't "reducing" their laptop screen resolutions, I've been through multiple laptops - screen resolutions have only been increasing.

Yes tablets (and phones) are getting more high resolution screens these days, but you are comparing 'apples and oranges' the main component of a tablet/mobile is it's screen - it is what you interact with - in close proximity.

That is the biggest selling point of a tablet/phone - if the screen is crap - no one will touch it (no pun intended). So manufacturers are going to spend the majority of the cost of the device on that part, it just makes sense.

In comparison, laptops are a lot more powerful & have more storage/expandability options than tablets, they are designed for a totally different need/job - up until recently most laptops didn't have touch screens, so the focus has been on trying to put the most powerful components in the smallest aesthetic package possible, the screen was not the major selling point (after all you could always plug a bigger/better screen into it if you wanted - yes some tablets let you do this to)

        Anyhow just food for thought.

        • Cheers meeser. Your post made me do more research. Lots of people seem to suggest that this GPU is lucky to use even half of its 2GB buffer… That's a bit sad.

Great price, would have bought it if I didn't already just buy a laptop recently.
Though at this price, Bamboozle, you're dreaming if you can find a ~$600 laptop with this pretty decent specs with a full-hd resolution. Having a good look at MSY's laptop prices, you couldn't get one for less than ~$1100.

The resolution is a deal-killer, pity they bundle the components with a lousy screen. Still it is cheap.

Why should a laptop with a 15.5" screen have a quarter the resolution of modern phones with a 4.7" screen?

      • +3

A phone with a 1080p 4.7" screen costs $500+ which is the same price as this whole laptop.

I would have thought that a higher resolution just means more is being squeezed into the same space, so everything appears smaller - icons, fonts, etc. Sometimes having a higher resolution on a smaller screen on a laptop is just not workable for some people.

    Here's a review:

Seems like a battery life of 4 hours under light load is pretty bad.
